Group buy : HKS FMIC
#1
I am not going to get the hks fmic, so i will have to pull out of this group buy. This is due to other reasons and not the product itself.
Alasdair, you are more than welcome to take over the group buy and use your supplier.

Havnt you already got one of these on yours? or maybe on your exstreme machine you want another on top of the first!!!!!!!
Seriously though, ive heard youve got to chop the front end around to fit it and if youve got a std turbo you get loadsa lag??????
Would it benefit my standardish type R?

Wow, thas a lot of cash...
Ever thought of getting a batch of them custom made? Can have them cheaper im sure, bigger if there is possibly any more room.
Alex @ AH Fabrications in Hereford can happily custom make rallycross spec intercoolers (go look at most UK Rallycross cars, they use AH intercoolers) to your spec. Do a drawing with all the sizes you want etc and AH can make you them.
He did my RS500 sided (and then some!) and a custom massive front mounter for my mates S14 200sx (Which is much bigger than the aftermarket jap ones) both for approx 350quid each. The SX needed a HUGE amount of custom plumbing made up, which we designed n got made for under 50quid.
Its nice to have a HKS badge, but if your willing to do the homework you can probably get a bigger and better one for lot less cash.
To see the quality of the stuff look in DemonTweeks Motorsprt Catalogue, they sell AH stuff (as it MOTORSPORT and you dont see real racers using stuff like pace or mega priced jap stuff when you can get metter for lesh cash)
Jus a thought.
Soz, dont have AH's number to hand, but places numbers not THAT hard to find out.

The nicest thing about the HKS (having got one over a year ago for similar money, from a very simi;ar supplier to POC ) are the cast end cans...those can't be 'fabricated'
But I've heard it aledged that the core (which is only available as a Type S ie 'Street', Type R is 'Race') is only good for 400 brake...of course this could be very wrong, as I'm sure we'll find out
The kit comes complete with all the brackets, pipes, clips and hoses for an Sti. If you have a UK car you'll need to get a samco 45 degree elbow to come off the turbo and connect it to the rest of the pipe work.
Oh and on the later phase 2 engined cars (MY99 on) I'd recomend looking into getting the MY97/8 spec kit and converting to the earlier dump calve as getting the MY99 type valve to sdeal properly isn't easy.
