Scoobies and Road rage

5th Gear tonight has an item on road rage
Do YOU get mad behind the wheel??
Have YOU suffered at the hands of another driver??
Does it depend upon what car you happen to be driving??
OR the music you are listening to??
For myself, I have dished out some road rage in my time BUT I am DESPERATELY trying to tone down my temper ..... I want to let things go, I want to ignore others mistakes ...... BUT, if someone informs me that I take myself in hand sexually then I REALLY flip!! I have been known to chase another motorist down, even!!
Have I had road rage against me? well, yes I have .... but when I haul my bulk out of the car they 'tend' to disappear!! The WORTST place to be is sitting in the car while someone is punching you through the window!! So, I ALWAYS get out!!
The car I am driving makes ALL the difference and the mood I am in too!! Music can affect the mood of course!! When I am driving my MX-5 I am NOT interested in driving fast or beating anyone off from the lights so do not get up tight, I just enjoy the open top motoring - if someone wants to come past they can, no probs!!
Whats your take on it??
Watch the programme tonight .... Channel 5 at 9pm I think?!

Surely its best when involved in a road rage incident to stay calm, avoid eye contact, wait until the other driver gets out of their car... and then run them over!
Eliminates the possibility of getting a smack in the mouth through the window that way.

Nice in principle - BUT their family will take you to court and get £1million in damages!!!
My way, you get to defend yourself and give them a good smack in the chops!!
Its on RIGHT NOW by the way!! Channel 5 - 9pm!! 5th Gear

I never suffer from road rage usually, I did however have a maniac chase me down in an MX-5 a couple of yrs ago on the day my father had died (he tried to cut me up on a roundabout and then when he didn't manage it took exception to me braking when I thought someone was trying to drive down the wrong side of the road). It really made the day complete, he chased me for miles while I was out for a drive minding my own business to take my mind off things. The guy wore glasses, the car was green.
I sincerely hope that wasn't you PSLEWIS cos if it is I want to let you know that you were very close to being killed that evening as I was literally prepared and equipped to commit murder.
In the end the police had a word with him after I drove to the station (where I worked) and he seemed to calm down. If it was you then you need to rethink your approach to life as you may not have the privelage much longer with that attitude.

NACRO, not me matey - only had my RED MX-5 for 1 month!! Been talked to by the police once for (alledgedly) intimidating a witness ....... but never with regards Road-rage.
As for NOT living long with my attitude as you say - you DO know how old I actually AM don't you!!?? I am NO spring chicken my friend!!
Sorry about the incident that happened to you, dont know the circumstances so cant comment further, BUT - no MX-5 can keep up with a Scooby anyway!

I was driving an old 3 series at the time that had belonged to my Dad. Glad it wasn't you, I still have some serious anger towards that person and if I saw them again or had chance to ctach up with them would seriously consider doing time for it.

I'm glad too
Its NOT as easy as people imagine to cause someone serious damage, however mad you are ..... it takes a cool head and a certain lack of concern for ones own safety!!

99 % of the time i am as nice as Pie, If i make a mistake in my driving i will hold my hand up & apologise, But when somebody blatently makes a mistake which causes you to swerve brake hard or whatever to avoid there stupidity & then gives you abuse for doing nothing wrong IT BOILS MY BLOOD & i turn into something horrible. You don't set out with Road Rage nor do i start it, If they just acknowledged that they had made a mistake & not resort to abusive hand signals Etc.
Just my 2 Pennies worth anyway.

i had this last night off to asda with the missus , pissing with rain and a silly old fool in a skoda (no lights on)cuts me up off a round about i had dipped and front fogs on, was happy with main beam and a blast of horn. then i get all these hand jesters we are doing 60 in the how stair rod rain and he slams his brakes on more hand signals by now i was fuming followed him 16 miles to his house gave him a mouth full and dropped his keys down the grid. i am still fuming now he was in his 60's so i did'nt belt him but even when i had him pined to his car he was still gobbing off calling me names.i am not proud of this but i would still have ago at him if i saw him again
sorry would have defused it a would have said sorry as well and gone on my way, my actions last night surprised me as i am normaly chilled

Spanner, you were quite tough when confronted with an OAP - I am interested to know what you would have done had he been, say, 20 stone ... 6'tall ... say, about 30 years old ... and mad as hell??
Can I assume you would have let it lie?? Just interested??

Only ever had one serious attempt to chase me down, barryed up old golf gti driving along too fast with their main beams on, so i gave them the finger, look in my rear view mirror as i hear tyres squeal, the idiots pulling a handbrake turn and coming after me. I put my foot down (which doesnt do much in a 1.3 pug 309!) and headed for the nearest set of twisties, where I proved that driver ability can compensate for lack of power.

We have a badly laid out roundabout near us where people do not / will not give way and I get the finger waving. That 'annoys' me, especially as some people hit the roundabout doing 70...

I used to follow a rule that I'd let two people wind me up rise above it but then let it all out at the 3rd. Trouble was that the 3rd incident started happening too soon so I've abandoned that one.
I now follow the rule that I will not let anyone provoke a road rage reaction from me. Trouble is you simply dont know who you are dealing with and its simply not worth the bother.
A few months ago I had to do some serious advanced manouvering to avoid someone in a Hyundai Accent who had an interesting driving style. He seemed to think I was doing something crazy and decided to follow me all the way to the supermarket diving all over the place, swearing, shouting, trying to run me off the road etc. I continued to drive properly and tried not to get involved.
He then screeched up to the supermarket entrance, got out, took of his glasses (!), and strode over towards me. He was proabably mid 30's, a bit podgy but quite stocky. I tried to calm him down, said I'd happily talk to him about our driving etc. He kept shouting and swearing and asked me if I wanted a slap to which I said there was no need for. After shouting for a bit longer he got back in his car and screeched off.
I'm 22, 6'2", well built and I practice a Filipino martial art which is brilliant. The thing is I could have smashed his face in but didn't (although my girlfriend wanted me to). He may have had a colt 45 in his jacket; he may have been a crazed loon. But if I had knocked his head off I'd have been arrested, my Sunday would have been spoilt and I'd have missed my girlfriends Sunday Dinner.
Moral of the story is that its worth appearing to back down to save your freedom, life and most importantly, Sunday Dinner.

yes mr lewis i would have followed him no matter what his age and confronted him , he just happened to be in his 60's .
i have got out of my car in manchester to two lads in their 20's .ended up with 2 counts of gbh against me.
the old fool on monday night tried to run me off the road and also tried to make me drive in to the back of his car he could have killed me and my girlfriend, i have a car with good brakes if he had tried it with a lesser car (or a car with no abs )he could have killed the people in it , how would you feel if he caused the death of a member of your family? if i have made him think twice about how he drives and made him use his mirrors then i feel justified in my actions , as i said in my first post i was not proud of my actions , sorry would have defussed the whole situation but he started on me with a steering lock.he got what he deserved.

yes if sumbody pisses me off
im a **** behind the wheel if sumbody pisses me off and i will confront them
u might hate me for it but then, who gives a ****, i am who i am, and if u cut me up or take the **** @ my expense i will get out and drag u from your car lol
thats just who i am, and im not changing for nobody, ive did sum bad, bad things in my life, but ive also did sum good things, ill hold my hands up, i dont care, the last bloke who blatently chopped me up becuase he knew his van was worth pennies compared to my vectra was dragged, squeeling from his van like a ickle pig, he was sooooooooooooo smug as he gave me the finger and then quickly turned of the dual carrigeway, his acknowledgement, of the fact that he knew FINE FOOKEN WELL what he had just done was sooo smug, i did what had to be done, bloke was quite big as well, who cares, he squeeled like a girl and jumped a red light afterwards
if pepole, drove properly in the 1st ****en place there would be no problem.
smug, smarmey, *******s
ive made mistakes while driving, we all make them, a simple hold your hands up "i am at fault" goes a long way, to blatently get all cheesy grinned cos you nearly hurt sumbodys pride and joy is pathetic.
end of rant
i saw 4 cars on the way home from work tonite going round roundabouts with no indicators causing other people to brake harshley & nearly cuaseing one to lock up
last nite on the way home i had a car full of lads stick there fingers up at me as they over took me in there rusty basemodel fiesta, why? cos i over took them legaly
thoughts?
sum people deserve to be smashed the **** up

I try very hard these days not to get wound up by other people's driving, I prefer to just chill and let them get on with it. Whats the point? I've no need to try and prove my masculinity.
If I make a mistake, I'm quick to raise my hand and wave an apology.
This outlook gets sorely tested by nobbers who blatantly do something stupid like pull out on a roundabout infront of me & then try and blame me for it
