Shell V-Power 100 octane
#1
This has now replaced Shell Optimax in Germany and is available everywhere.
I have already found that running on 97/98 or optimax means that the car is not as smooth. I live in Germany so want to run this V-Power in MY01 WRX, do I need to do anything to the ECU ???.
Any advice appreciated.

You can reset the ecu by pulling the efi and ecu fuses for a minute or so, It will help it adjust to the higher octane fule quicker than if you just let it alter itself over time... (I believe...could be orribly wrong, but we've been doing that in out tubbys for ages now)

What would be really good is a subaru dealership where someone speak English, my German is crap and certainly doesn't extend to explaining stuff about car bits and bobs.
So if you now of anywhere Wurzel then let me know.
YHM what, uh?

Check out the thread I sent in the email, that is our common dealership. It is about 250km for me, but he is excellent - good prices, great workmanship etc . His english is also excellent. BTW - I am meeting Wurzel this weekend in Stuttgart (so not far from you) - and perhaps we go to the dealer on sat. Drop me an email in reply to mine. I will then give you some more details etc...

Neal

Going to check out the car then Neal?
You don't need to do an ECU reset in a MY01, as it adjusts within about 20-30 miles anyway, much quicker than MY00 or before. Just enjoy the stuff

i've tried both the v power and superunleaded but I can't really compare the two in regards to mpg because I had the air-con on when I was running on v power. however I have a slight suspicion that i got more mpg out of the v power.
can any confirm?
cheers,
simon
