where can i HPi my import engine from just the engine numbers??

To be honest, all the evidence suggests it came from an Legacy. This may not be what you want to hear, or what the company that did the work won't accept. However I do think that it's the case.
As far as I know the twin bolt coils are unique to the legacy as it has different cam setup. If you don't mind taking the rocker cover off you can say for sure. The Legacy uses a follower arm similar to a ford pinto engine. The hydraulic tappet is actually at the base (pivot point) of the arm. All 2.0 turbo impreza heads use direct cams acting either a solid or hydraulic bucket follower.
If you can find a part number on the head, that is something that could be confirmed.

i was gonna HPi the engine numbers so that i have got something on paper, but instead i will do as you have said and then confront them
