Servicing Intervals?
#1
Sounds a really stupid question, so forgive me!!
I wont go into the details but I am having a 'fight' with a local dealership which may end up in court, concerning service history and intervals.
Can someone confirm that a service should be undertaken at either the required Mileage or Age, e.g. Cambelt service should be undertaken either at 45,000 miles or 36 months whichever comes first?. Hence if a car is 3 years old but has only covered 20,000 then that service should be carried out?.
I know it sounds a stupid question, just need to get it clear in my head.

I am upon this conumdrum at the mo'. MY99 with 6 months since the last service @ 75,000, but only 66,600 on the clock. The specialist I am going to recommended sticking with the mileage, not the time.
This is Prodrive in Stockport, who I would presume know their stuff.
So I will stick with their recommendation.

hi all .for those of you that do low miles like me you can have done a tailored service..which is that the oil and filter must be changed every 6 monthts and the main things that need doing like cam belt get done when they should be..speak to im tech dept and they will fax you a copy of the letter which they sent me...mark

Always go with time and not the milage.
The service book states whichever comes first !
I've seen loads of cars with tyres that are cracked / splitting at the sides, but have plenty of tread.
Rubber deteriates over time so if tyres do it I'm sure Cambelts will, and one breaking will cost just a little bit more than a service.

...and if that "local dealership" just happens to have a name with 3 initials, all within the first 4 letters of the alphabet then I can't say I'm surprised that you're having problems with them.
There are a few owners on here that have suffered similar bad servicing / customer service from them - travel to Simpsons of Highworth in the future... it's worth it.
