Any Legacy turbo owners out there?
#1
Hi all, i'm talking about the pre '93 (?) Legacy turbo, here. Sold my impreza last year, after 3 years of happy ownership, and bought my 5th Lancia integrale! This one is one of the last of the line, Evo2 models. the intention is to use it as a weekend car on a clssic car policy. I dont do a fantastic amount of miles now, but want something to use daily, still quite good fun to drive, 4WD would be handy, as i live in the sticks. Looked at various older Audi's, but fancy the idea of another Subaru. I owned a legacy turbo saloon a long time back which was totally reliable, sold it to my dad who put a lot more miles on it with no bother, before he sold i on. My memories are that it seemed a little bit better built than classic impreza, more geared towards fast cruising rather than tearing up back lanes, which is what i'm after ( remember i've got the integrale to get that out of my system!). Any comments or opinions on this ?

Yup
The Legacy was definitely more solidly built than the classic Impreza - door shut feel is always a good indicator of this.
I enjoyed my Legacy Turbo (owned 95-97) - Evo did a buying used feature a couple of years back - that was the car I owned.
My memories are
- a great cruiser with straight-line stability
- Comfortable with a decent ride
- Still quick'ish 10 years later (0-60 under 7)
- No-one knew what it was - even less do now !

Thanks for the comments. from what you say , i'm on the right track. Dave ( i bought those eibach springs off you for my old Impreza!), thanks for the price guide. Done a few searches on the net, but they seem a bit thin on the ground at the moment.Appreciate a heads up if you see anything,

Thanks Dave. Yeah, they do seem to last well. the car i sold my dad went onto 150,000 miles before he sold it, with no problems. Could be right about the charge-cooler. 'Improvements' are sometimes cost saving exercises!
cheers, mark
p.s Thanks for the summary, jim. Just re-read the Evo article featuring your old car. What did u replace it with in the end?
