Need some help folks......got a MY97 turbo 8 weeks ago now..my first scoob...never happy with the ride, turns out the car was running sti springs on standard uk turbo dampers....
Solved my problem today by having them removed and a standard set of springs put back on...but was totally shocked at the bill....not mentioning the dealer name but it was a subaru main dealer...bill received for £335 including labour...I was gobsmacked...wife going nuts....expected the set to cost £150 +fitting...does this price seem right or have i been fleeced...

Red face

I hope they gave you the old springs back go and get them if not as you can recoup somew of your losses by putting them in the for sale forum.

Did you not ask how much before putting it in?

I would imagine that you are looking at a couple of hours labour for the fitting of the springs, so I dont think that it will be that far out.

How long was charged for labour?

i to have been shocked by the prices subaru dealers charge , i have a thread reply about being charged £47 for a fuel filter plus fitting total £65.
then told on here £11 from halfords 20mins to fit .
think the moral of our storys is get a price and make them stick to it .
was also charged £20 to remove the double din head unit , was well pissed off when i found the silver faica panel just pulls off and it's 4 screws to remove the head unit.

there is a good site Ravensblade-impreza.com this bloke is from the usa but he has taken his to bits like a haynes manual on the net loads of pics as well .

hope this helps

Unhappy

Paul, sorry to read of your troubles!

Confused about removing "STi" springs though. Are they not a higher/more expensive spec. than the UK? (or just don't work with uk dampers?)

Festa' is right, if you don't have them, get them back mate!

Good luck.

Steve.
