Gonna hopefully try me STI8 on a strip this weekend and i want some advice on getting off the line. What the best way to do it giving the best lift off without frying me car. Any advice would be appreciated.

Red face

Ensure you read up about Subaru and time trials etc as this invalidates your warranty
But the best way is to get into the turbo's boost range (id say around 4.5k on an sti type uk) and bring the clutch up (do not side step it as this can break the car )
Thats the best way but it does take some practice as most bog the turbo down to start with

what clutch you got?

on my standard clutch it didnt like being launched at over 4000rpm anything more and just all noise and smells and not much movement

since had an AP Organic fitted and it loves being launched at 6000+rpm dont side stop though, just bring it up really fast - always get the best times this way and have been timed at 4.5sec 0-60

did 32!LOL 1/4miles this way at the recent meet at elvington.

peccy (280bhp UK Turbo)

get some practice here... http://www.scoobyshootout.co.uk

i was the same
i wasnt sure about how to launch the car as its my 1st 4wd car

i tired 6k in the dry and it slipped quite a bit
i had best results about 5100 ish and dumping the clutch

although i did do 6k when raced peccy in the wet as his spoilers bigger then mine, and his car looks faster lol and i was a bit worried about getting beat!

Having done 2 stints at Elvington now, and with the standard clutch, for me the best way i found was to actually creep upto the line and then get the car stood still, depress clutch fully, dial in between 5 and 6k rpm, and then just dump the clutch.

Previously tried holding biting point at 4.5, 6 etc, but got really poor starts and that is what finished my clutch.

New one is in now, so could be better
