ive just been to tsunami racing to get sum octane booster for next weekends elvington
and had a chat with andy
i didnt want that max power style nitrox hot shot crap, and asked for millers
which he had in his car
anways after a little chat about cars and stuff he to,d me he has this "tin" thing in his petrol tank whih is supossed to boost the octane up
he says its about £70, u stick it in the tank and it lasts the life of the car
anybody ever heard of it?? he still uses millers as well as this tin thing, but the tin thing totaly suprised me
wtf is it??
and how cheap can u get a case of 10 milers bottles deliverd to your doorstep
found sum for £22.50 but this didnt have VAT or delivery added and
tsunami said i could have case of 10 bottles for £40, which is handy as they live 5 mins away and can get it in the same day if i really badly need it
back to the main point
whats that tin thing?

It's a broquet fuel catalyst no doubt.
I ran two 10's in my Cossie.
There has been a lot of controversy over whether or not these work.
I got a letter from Broquet stating they'd pay for any engine damage should i have a related problem.
I ran a Cossie with 500hp+ on 95 ron fuel for 20,000 miles with no problem.
They are advertised in the SN shop i believe and a Scooby (depending on power) would require a smaller capacity catalyst.

Used to be a good thread but I think it was deleted, see this thread: http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=138196
and I recall even a groupbuy for them!

I have used it for ages in this and previous car, can't comment on effects with a standard ecu but for me it made for smoother running, fuel burnt differently so needed to adjust ign dwell etc and fuel injetcion timing could be changed to improve ... that was using Motec. For Link it was all just smoother and more refined. Whilst I could never advance my timing significantly using just Broquet it certainly made the car more consistent on what I had, less likely to det etc. Fuel economy was better as well when I ran with Motec using the closed loop lambda control function. With Link I could lean the fuel map to achieve the same afr. Quite interesting really. I've had it so long its just part of the "furniture" but if it was removed I would notice the difference. I did some back to back power/torque runs when I put it into the "5" and with identical maps no real difference was seen, then I twigged it had richened up the afr so leaned it a bit and then it was better.
