Black mica paint or WRC blue paint?
#1
Can't decide on the colour for a new MY03 WRX.
The choice is between black mica and WRC blue.
Which would be easiest to maintain?
What about resale values?
Never had a black car before so any comments appreciated!

black cars are a pig to keep clean they show everything including dust.
The black mica paint on the new MY03 is however a cracking colour that has flecks of gold in it as well.
WR blue will be easier to keep clean/not show dirt etc up as much as the black but is and will be alot more common.
Personally I like cleaning my car so I would go for the black

Cheers for the responses people and keep them coming!
Both colours look fantastic in the flesh, but which is going to look the best after a few years of British motoring?

Had a black BMW a few years ago and vowed never to have a black car again . It looks great when clean and polished but rubbish when not .Don't even think of washing it when its sunny it just smears . But if you don't mind the work it looks the dogs when its done

I got black, it's not just got gold flecks in it theres green and red in there aswell , big problem is keeping it clean even after three days of driving in sunny conditions you can see all the dust on it, also if your getting tints done it makes the black look super mean

My black car was a pain to keep clean. Would require wash and polish twice a week to keep it looking spotless.
Everything showed up on it, mud, dust, sand, salt, road grime, dead bugs....

I have got a black car and everyone told me that I would never buy another one....WRONG!!
Ok I admit it is a real pain to keep clean, but when it is clean it outshines any other colour on the road.....and I agree with some of the others....blue is just a bit too common IMHO!!

Saw a dirty black STI8 yesterday and it looked awful. Contractor came into work today with a blue WRX also dirty and looked just as bad.
I would go for black and armourfend it, cuz I don't like the blue.

After being swept around between white and black for about a week, i ordered mine in black.
My first choice was white, but after seeing that color in real life, i decided very quickly to go for black

I had a black astra coupe before my scoob. If it hadn't been washed in the last 1/2 hour, it looked filthy. That said though, when it was clean & polished it did look fantastic.

black easily looks the best, although from being close on hand with my mates experiences with his black Cupra R it is a more difficult to maintain. Yes stone chips are a problem and yes it does show the dust etc, but when its clean it looks the puppy's nuts!
I saw a black STI03 in my local Sainsburys the other week and it looked gooood!

I got a black 03 and would would always prefer it to a blue one. The gold specks looks ok in the sun but to be honest i would have preferred it just pure black - it does show up dirt and stuff a lot tho...

Well I've just orderd a Black car, it was between Silver or Black but decided silver was getting to common and it doesn't shine like Black when you've just polished it .
I'll need to buy shares in Swissol though .
