Haven't driven either ,but in my opinion the my03 is a better (looking) car , and should be more sought after in the future . Get the my03 and perhaps get a prodrive upgrade in the future .

PPP would give me the power but whatt about everything else - are the brakes better on the STi, interior, and the general drive?
What are the main differences, other than simply the front end??
knowledge required please

Not driven the 03 WRX but am assuming it is very similar to the 02. In which case, the STi has better brakes, more power, better diff, 6th gear, harsher suspension (annoying on a long ride (IMHO only!!! no flames please)), increased insurance, better resell possibly.
I know they can both be had for about the same money and if I was in the position you are in I would be considering the milage I would be doing, comfort I wanted and nickability!
Where I am now I am happy with my 02 WRX and would not have (did not) bought the STi. In a year or 2 who knows.

I had an STI7 Type UK. Really enjoyed it ut it really does need PPP!! The ride really can be harsh. I got rid at request of girlfriend (yeah yeah - shut up!!!) - she just couldnt handle the constant "jiggling". I think Prodrive have now released a set of springs which may help.
Anyway I then got a Volvo S60 T5 - superb motorway cruiser and amazingly refined. but ultimately not a great deal of fun.
Have now got MY03 WRX with PPP. Also got 18" wheels. The interior of STi slightly better and I do miss the 6th gear...but I think it's a much more live-able with car than the STi - I do 27000 miles a year.
Incidentally the WRX with PPP is faster 0-60 than the STi without PPP.

STI7 Prodrive+PPP,you will have one of only 750 cars, only a 1000 STI7 Prodrives made,Prodrive only made 750 PPs,so they will be fairly rare, depends on what you like the look of?,i think when Subaru release the next facelift there will be thousands of MY03s for sale, nice looking car but im over the moon with my STI7.

So whats involved in a PPP for an STi type uk.
Does it involve an induction kit and an improved exhuast system for example???
And is it worth £2000 which is a lot of money??

sti7 everytime (I'm biased) Seriosly though, they are two very different cars. I love the power delivery of the sti over the wrx (and also the looks - even if it is a bugeye)
Your choice - you can't loose either way

Only one person can make the decision here - you
You absolutely positively need to take an extended test drive in both, assuming you like the looks of the bugeye.
If you want to make the decision harder, compare the STI without PPP against the 03 with PPP.
The WRX is a wonderful proposition day-to-day IMHO, and still goes exceptionally well. Even with only 2k on it, my non-PPP'd wagon is loosening nicely.
The STI suspension, after 300 miles on the motorway at 80ish, annoyed me. It bounced, IMHO. But then, off motorway and into lanes or lots of roundabouts it delighted. it's fantastic, but a bit of a ballache for motorway journeys IMHO.
Do drive both, and take them both over long extended test drives. Both have an abundance of handling IMHO, and both are exceptionally good cars.
Whatever you choose, you won't go wrong and I'd reckon on about a 50/50 split on which to go for. For my money, 03 WRX but I'm biased!
