I've returned from holiday to find that the Police have been wanting details about my Scoob and my whereabouts. The Police in Hemel Hempstead (some 100-odd miles away from where I live), have had reports of non-payment of petrol from various garages by a Subaru in their area, plus more in the London Metropolitan area. The Scoob has appeared on only one CCTV camera - but has been positively identified as a Scoob at others.
What is more disturbing, is that my number plate is being used. Today I have had to go to the local police station to get the police to check the VIN and engine details on my scoob against my registration docs. Not that I've got a problem with that - I've got nothing to hide (only my non-regular number plate)
My reg no. is now on a police file, and should it be flagged up by a suspicious cop when I'm out "enjoying a drive", I'll be pulled over and questioned. So I need to keep the relevant crime log details with me in the car to help me prove my innocence. No big deal, but un-nerving nonetheless.
With the agreement from S de B, I have put out this info.
The car in question is a silver Scoob (mine's not).
The reg used is A2 WRX.
The Police believe that as this petrol non-payment has been reported at least 5 or 6 times since the new year, then it cannot be simply be down to forgetfulness. Its possibly a stolen scoob - but why choose a high-profile reg plate?
So to anyone out there reading this and has seen or knows this scoob, the Police at Hemel Hempstead would love to hear from you - so would I
Like I say, keeping this at the top for a while would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear that Matty...
We'll remember to organise you at the BACK of any convoy in the future...
When the law nabs them, can you take a civil action out? - After all, you must have paid a pretty penny for that reg.no. !!

Yeah, on the plus side that could be a good excuse about the Gatso's - methinks I'd be damn lucky to use that tho and get away with it Very interesting idea though...hmmmmm
Squizz - not as dear as you'd think (they came with the car

had a similar incident with my 220gti a few years back - some scumbag in manchester put my reg on the same make, model and colour car and did hit and runs, crashed red ligts, caught speeding. got that fed up, i changed my plate. they just have to see your car once, but generally go for non-private plates...

Christ guys, I never expected so many viewings and so much compassion - you do the Scoob community proud
Unfortunately the Police were unable to give me an idea what MY the Scoob in question is - my guess too is that its a saloon and not a wagon judging by their comments.
I shall be speaking to them again very soon to check that my local nick have passed on the relevant info which clears me from the equation, and I will try and find out what other locations it has been seen in.
To those of you in the Hemel area, I thank you for your diligence in keeping your eyes peeled, and of course to anyone else driving out and about.
Rest assured, if I do venture down that way, I'll announce it advance, just so no-one carves me up and drags me over their bonnet scoop
Of course, they could be reading this and are now choosing someone else's plate to copy.....
