Had a fun day at Silverstone today, made the mistake of parking in the paddock and then wasn't able to arm the alarm, therefore unable to disarm the immobiliser, due to parking near the radio transmitters.

Big thanks to the guys in the new Scooby that pushed me 30 meters or so back, to no avail. Your suggestion of trying new batteries in the key fob was passed on, as I knew the issue was the transmitters, having read about a similar thing on here once (memory is great after the fact) but your help was appreciated anyway.

I called subaru assist, who were brilliant, and had a guy out to me in 25 minutes to tow me to the other side of the circuit, where I could disarm the car and drive it a away. The guy at Subaru assist knew that it would be rectified by just moving the car, so I wonder how many other people have had this problem, and where I need to avoid to stop it happening again?

Cheers
Dave

I guess that you've got a Sigma alarm (MY99/00).

My dealer sorted me out a new alarm box that was shielded (MY99 @ Listers).

It should be covered under warrantee as it is a well-known issue with these MYs.....

Best of luck

Thanks Dan, I'll call into the dealers and get them to sort it out.

I kept having this problem, and have since had the shielded version fitted. Still not great, but now it does tend to work right up against the car in places where before it wouldnt work at all

Thumbs down

The MWB Business Exchange building in Bracknell is dreadful for this. There's some kind of radio device as you go in through the front door which completely blanks out the remote control. First time I made a call to Subaru Assitance they were absolutely superb and said they would send someone out. Instead, I collared a couple of guys from the office and we moved the car to the other end of the car park where all was well.

The Shell petrol station opposite the Coppid Beech Hotel in Bracknell is also bad - I never fill up there any more as twice the car has refused to let me back in. Pushing it a few metres across the forecourt helped both times, but you look a bit of a dick doing this
