I want to buy a new wrx
#1
I`m looking around for a deal on a new wrx at the moment. Cheapest I can get a UK dealer so far is £19500. Have found EEC imports at £17300 with a 3 year warranty and non eec imports at £16795 with no warranty. Has anybody any advice on which road to take. Or any better deals available. Do I go for a pukka uk car with warrany or a parallel import on an eec import. Also what is the real loss of value on a non uk car (not a dealer estimate)

Have spent the last couple of months working out the answer to this for myself (with plenty of help from the good people who frequent ScoobyNet)......
I think most peeps here would agree to avoid Non-European (unless you're going for a Jap-spec monster....). Is it from Cyprus, by any chance? Reasons to avoid include: crappy warranty (only 1 year and you also have to mess around registering something or other - explanations are on here somewhere but it looks very long and tiresome), Subaru UK are even more snotty about them than they are with EU ones, some folks reckon they have thinner underseal, they may be considered grey and hence cost more to insure.
I'll be collecting my EU WRX within the next week or two - even with the Euro being not so good at the moment I'll still save about £1,500 all in (after getting alarm etc. fitted). When I get my PPP done I'll have to go back to Europe - but they seem to charge £500ish less to fit there so no real concern for me.
In terms of depreciation, I can't see how in 3 or 4 years time, if I sell the car, it could be worth £1,500 less than a UK bought one simply by being a parallel import. And I'd quite like the £1,500 now.

try geting in touch with Ian Armstrong here in carlisle at Stan Palmer's.
Seem to remember the statistic that they sold more WRX's than anyone else last year.

David Hendry in Malmesbury was doing a new WRX for £18,250 I think. Its a Euro import with 3 year warrenttee. He had them in stock last week as well.
