Newbie Question re MY02/03
#1
Newbie questions here. Am thinking about getting an STi as an everyday car to replace my recently sold weekend toy and the family hack.
What are people thoughts on the STi, how will it stand 50k miles of mixed motoring + the odd trackday. It will also have to put up with roof box and associated crap for family holidays, any potential issues here.
Also wanted to get some real feedback on MY02 and MY03 cars, Are some of the reports that the MY03 are significantly better in terms of handling and feedback true ?. Would you really notice a significant difference in everyday road driving or is this really only shown up on track or on limit.
Final question, as an everyday hack, is an MY03 WRX with PPP a better option than the STi ?
Thanks in advance, sorry if this has been done to death before

I was going to go the WRX with PPP pack untill I drove an STI8 and then it was a done deal, just a much much better drive. 6 Gears help as well.
Picked it up last Friday and not regretted it for one minute.
Awesome

Sorry, still a little confused about version numbers and Model Years. Whats an STi8, MY02 or MY03 ?
I had chance to drive a MY02Sti last year, enjoyed the experience but a 20min test drive isn't enough to form a strong opinion, I need to arrange a longer test drive/weekend.

MY03 is the STI8 ...new lights etc etc.
David Hendry in Malmesbury is where I bought mine from. David was great and we had a nice length test drive in the cars.
I would recommend them.

Oh and if you buy one get a prodrive gear **** fitted from new. The standard one is crap and hurts your hand after a while

Cheers folks
Had the lights/MY relationship sorted, but wasn't sure on version
I've got a couple of dealers around here who I will try to work something out with when ready to buy, Gatwick and B&C are both local, B&C always seem helpful enough.
For the moment I'm just trying to collect a few opinions from people who already own and drive the cars, but I'm sure i will need to drive them all to finalise my views
