STI 8 Type UK Versus STI 8 Euro Model
#4
Oi! Pete!
Don't forget the (lack of) alarm, (lack of) RAC Trackstar, (lack of) locking wheel nuts on EU, or slightly less underseal...
Also, on the non-techie side, warranty is slightly different and you don't get subaru assist. But that is it IIRC.
Cheers,
Nick.

...and warranty is now exactly the same.
Every new Subaru sold in Europe has a 3 year factory warranty meaning it never has to near a dealer to maintain the warranty.

3 year factory warranty
I could be horribly wrong, and you're probably in a better position to know, but that's what I was told by my Dutch dealer in January...
Cheers,
Nick.

Just checked the Keyring cars website where I bought my EU import from and it says the following.
Nathan..
Cars from Belgium now come with a 3 year warranty including Subaru Assistance. The warranty on paintwork is 3 years with a 6 year anti-corrosion guarantee. Cars from outside the EC also come with a 3 year warranty valid throughout Europe, although Subaru Assistance is not included.

WHOA great news.
So does Nathan L's quote that "cars outside the EC come with 3years factry warranty", mean Jap imports have a proper warranty?
If so will UK dealers have to start servicing these Jap imports??

Isn't it also true that you couldn't get the PPP fitted to it (in this country at least)? Please tell me it's true as I've just ordered one from a UK dealer!

AFAIK the PPP isn't generally available outside the UK which is a bummer.
When I made enquiries about having PPP fitted to my EU MY02 the price as fitted by the Euro dealer was more expensive than having it done in the UK. However, if the kit was fitted in the UK, even by Prodrive themselves, my warranty would be invalidated. If the kit is fitted by the source-country dealer, then the warranty would be intact.

MJW, interesting stuff. In France, I don't think any of the dealers fit the PPP, none that I'm aware of anyhow and none of the french bbs's that I go to suggest any dealers which will fit it, which means if I was to get it done in Belgium, my warranty would be shot. The price being higher doesn't surprise me - quote for a prodrive spoiler was a ridiculous 1700 euros - nearly a thousand quid...for a spoiler!

3 year factory warranty for all but IM sourced cars for the MY03 is what I have heard also. This is also true for some MY02's but it's far more variable....
