hey guys,

hope everyone is well,

firstly, i just want to say that normally i drive within the speed limits on our not so great british roads, but every now and then because some halfwit in a shxtty vectra GSI, or an XR3i decides to shall we say "have a go" you have to put your foot down and show "who's the daddy".

I recently had an incident where a Saab 95 attempted to undertake me, he had his "bird" in the front seat, and shall we just say ended up looking rather sheepish when I simply glided away from him efortlesly (they seem to be quite powerfull though the saab's!) I even saw his lass laughing because he had been well and truely beaten!

Just wondered if anybody had any funny, or truely amazing stories of shall we say you coming out on top in a dual, as because we all know that none of us race on the roads, but every now and then a dxck head comes along who simply has to be taught a lesson!

I look forward to your stories!

Cheers Lads

Micky

One occasion comes to mind, although i must STRESS this is not a bull**** story and was ENTIRELY due to the weather conditions!

Sitting on M40 to London in torrential rain, visibility is still 1000m but the 'great' british motorist who never bloody looks 100m in front has reduced himself to 45mph for no reason apart from braking distance which again is fine and is double normal and then some already......

Rain is bouncing quite hard and roll up alongside an F50 wow, spent along time admiring his car, nice city type in 1000s $$$$$ of designer gear inside, road parts to reveal 2000m+ of nothing, i give him a 3-2-1 and off we go!

Ferrari precedes to flail about like a fish on the road, he puts FAR too much power down and stands still for ages, meanwhile i am XXX mph and laughing my *** off, back into traffic and he is like pissing himself laughing and giving the P1 a big thumbs and saying 'Lucky Lucky boy!'

-----------------------------------------------------
Also, taught a wide boy nova out once with alot of mods on it, at petrol station he stops and said some crap and went into pay, his missus then asks me out for a drink! LMAO

I had an indicident with a Fiesta Zetec S (I know I cna beat these all day long, but he still wanted to have a go) - On straight dual carraigeway doing about 85mph in 5th he comes screaming up behind me so I gently accelerate to xxxmph to which he does the same.

Come to a bit of traffic so end up slowing to 45mph..... Road begins to open up and I tell my passenger (who happens to drive a Zetec S aswell) to look in the rear view mirror and not to take his eyes off of Mr Fiesta....

Road now completely clear so go for it - my mates reaction was "**** you, I'm not racing you EVER and wasting petrol" the Fiesta had turned into a tiny image in my rear vierw mirror very quickly

Red face

Motorbikes tend to cack themselves when they draw up along side you at the lights and you give them a quick blip on the gas......

Have a good story back in the days when I owned a 'scort turbo. Coming out of Stockport heading up the dual carriage way towards the round-a-bout at Bredbury. It was Boxing day and this Nissan Micra decided he was going for it. I was doing about 80 and eased off ready to brake for the round-a-bout....he didnt see the round-a-bout until it was too late, he slid straight into it and basically ploughed the front end deep into the steep grassy incline. The driver and passenger were not hurt.....Micra was very bent but i couldn't stop laughing. I kept recalling the incident when they mounted the curb at around 60mph, all wheels locked up solid, their heads nearly came through the roof......

Sorry, but you had to be there.

I would be amazed if you could beat the bike off the line to 60.

My bike does it in around 3 secs without a gear change and it is only 2 changes to 110, don't know the time to that but it isn't much.

Thumbs up

Nice one from last Friday night....

I'd just finished fitting the new suspension to my car and was popping over to see a pal in Watford to collect some NF for the rolling on sat.

Anyway, I'd collected said chemicals and was heading out of Watford on the Hempstead road. Those that know the road will know it has about a million speed cameras. The traffic lights in front move to 2 lanes and feeds into one, I use this to pass all the slow *** drivers and get in front, just as I pull back in my rearview is filled with a massive chevvie badge! This bloke is moving, I pull back in and matey moves out to overtake! So I sticks me boot down and he has to pull in (childish I know, no-one wants to be passed by a truck )

We get to the roundabout by the M25, I proceed to fly off with plenty of 'slidy room' to test the new suspension. After belting round the roundabout I come to a stretch of dual carriageway, oh yes, matey is still in my rear view! So I open her up in 2nd/3rd and it wasnt till half way through 4th gear that I start to pull groud on him! hummmmmm

We have now arrived at the roundabout on the bottom on the A41, we go over and once again I open the STi up fully, redline second, redline 3rd, he still there!!! redline 4th and Ive pulled enough on him.... by now I'm at xxx speeds and lift, settle to a nice speed on the inside lane..... after a few seconds trucker boy pulls past me and drops in front....

One of those big *** chevvie pickups, big square front end, rounded rear arches, painted in purple I think with purple rear lights..... I pulled off onto the slip road for Hemel, gave a flash, he flashed his hazzards.

Good safe fun Road conditions were perfect, no traffic, little danger Would love to know what kind of engine would help a two tonne american beast keep up!!!!!

I've had a few "interesting" traffic light races with bikes.

You know its inevitable as soon as he pulls along side. I just make sure its not bigger than 600cc - can match them no probs, as long as the turbos spinning when I dump the clutch

My mum's Nissan primera sport (snigger) did well with bikes too - it has a 6 speed sequential CVT autobox. Once you've mastered it -it can match a 600 up to about 50mph

Then My old XR3 days with my 140bhp 1.8 16valve zetec 'scort and a modded S1 RS turbo. While he was spinning the wheels for traction I was off and away...plus I could stop too (disc all round brakes on my escort - handy)

ahh those were the days

Cool

Two funny incident have happened to me on the Bathroad in Slough. First was at the traffic lights outside the retail park just before trade sales. I'm waiting in the outside lane at the trafficlights cos there is a big artic parked up 200 yards down the road delivering cars to trade sales and blocking the inside lane. Hairdresser in an audi TT pulls up on my inside and hes revving up and looking over clearly believing he will beat me to the truck. I think to myself this guy has clearly been sniffing too much hairspray and dail in 4000 revs. Lights change and I accelerate to the speed limit (40mph) and beat him to the truck by at least a car length, he's clearly now one unhappy crimper and proceeds to undertake me at about 60-70 giving me the ****** sign as he sails past. I just sit there just under 40 because what I knew and he didn't is that there is a gatso just past trade sales and he flys through it at at least 60 getting flashed in the process. Absolutely made my day
The other incident was further up outside the Kentucky, again I am at the traffic lights in the outside lane waiting for the lights to change. On my right is a filter lane for traffic turning right and this BMW M3 convertible comes up it indicating left, clearly thinks he will cut the queue by out accelerating whatever is at the lights. Said Beemer contains 4 young asian lads dressed up like Ali G in gold lame tracksuits and loads of bling bling. To be fair to the driver his face dropped when he saw me but his mates are giving it large saying I'm going down and my *** is gonna get whipped so again I dail in 400 revs and dump the clutch as the lights change. The Beemer tries to beat me but just lurches half a car length over the line and stops, he'd stalled it and is getting a right roasting off his mates. Ultimate driving machine my ****.

POC, you've probably just met one of the few cyclones that are in the country, I think they're about six litres of V8 grunt and do the quarter mile in some silly time considering the size and bulk of them.

I once launched from a set of lights against a Chicochento (spelt as it sounds) sporting. I hit 60 in 4.5s and he took about 14.5 I had no real motive I just fancied a play and there was no suitable competition

Peeps just aren't at all interested in any sort of acceleration action with the scooby. I drive past CTR's, 330i BMW's, Cooper S, etc all the time and they don't even flinch. Everyone wanted to try and burn off the VTS - which was great because they usually couldn't. I spend most of the time in the scooby toddling along at my own pace or stuck behind what vans

the list is endless of the ***** that think they can cut in from a wrong lane just to jump the traffic but the ones that really get me goat r the ones that think they can over take you on the country lanes.

doing 60-70 mph is cruising speed around the lanes but u always get some **** up ur *** for a couple of miles who then thinks he can over take u.

i tend to let them get about half a car length on me then i just stick with their speed until they realize they are fighting a loosing battle.

I got caught out once tho, had a yelllow 355 ferrari attempt to overtake so i did as above but at 90 he notched it down a gear, looked over smiled, thumbs up & hit the gas and left me with the rasp of his sports zorst

i caught him up at the beginning of the twisties and stayed with him but had no chance on the straights, it was like racing a 4 wheeled motorbike accelaration was phenominal.

Pulled up beside him at the junction where he shouted over 'man ur cars is the nut$, never had any1 give me a run like that before'
i was choked staring at this shining ferrari and the owners telling me my car is the nut$'

p.s. I HATE MIDDLE LANE HOGGERS

RB5...
what is the problem with someone wanting to overtake on country lanes if you are doing 60 ish, and the road conditions are appropriate?

Isn't that the same as metro drivers doing 50, and getting miffed when you overtake them?

I've murdered quite a few Golf GTi, BMW 320i's and anything else gangster that is often found on the Great West road in Hounslow. In fact, I guarantee if you cruise up and down there you'll end up in a duel in no time. I don't do that by the way

Cruising back up the A1 once around 90ish, see this big 3pointed star filling my rear view. I pull into 3rd lane to overtake approaching traffic, star follows me and were now at about 110, I think fair enuff lets see what you got and pin her to the boards. Pulling away quite rappidly I have a smile on my face. Get a fair distance away from the 3star and steady up to about a ton. Keeping an eye in my rear view this badge is approaching very very rappidly, I watch him getting ever closer and as he gets near start matching his speed. We are now doing around 135 and were side by side I look over and have 7 or fella's waving and shouting, by this time i'm pi$$ing myself.

Who needs a Volvo T5R for speed and space all in one package

I have never known a VAN travel so fast in all my life and it was DIESEL Fantastic.
What the hell do they put in those things nowadays.

jesus, just spat coffee on my keyboard.

primera sport keep up with a sports 600 upto 50? maybe if it were ridden by the queen!

i owned a primera gt for a couple of years and that had the square root of f all chance of keeping up with my old nc30 (that's a 400 btw) the only chance the car had was at 100+ when the bike was running out of steam.

a sports 600 will do 60 in 3.5 - 4.0 seconds easily.

Scoobygav555 - it's a great piece of road but the blind left hander at the top had the Micra. I sort of feel sorry for the bugger so usually take it easy with my scooby up there now.

Bikers - sorry!! didnt mean all bikes but I agree with comment made above, usually upto a 600 and they get a blast of my dump valve resonating through their helmits as I draw along side!

Sometimes, putting your foot down just aint enough...

a mate of mine (regular poster to this forum) was, shall we say, "Surprised" by a Passat TDi the other day <guffaw> what's funnier is... next day, I saw (presumably the same TDi) keep a WRX at bay... I didn't laugh at the WRX driver, much, just glad it wasn't ME who'd been nailed by a derv burner!

I've been caught out by a merc oil burner before We'd slowed down to 40mph in a 60 because a car was turning off. I was in 3rd gear so had reasonable acceleration available but 2nd gear is where the party was at. Anyway, he saw he had a scooby behind and nailed it (puff of blue smoke) I pressed the loud peddal but he pulled away!! After a second or so I matched his rate of acceleration and then started to gain on him but we had to slow for traffic.

Poor guy probably thought he'd nailed an Impreza

Mate you really don't have a clue do you ?

I ride bikes and drive scoobys and you my friend are deluded any decent rider on a 600 will kick a scooby's **** on any road twisty or straight.

The problem with bikes unlike scoobys is that to get any decent performance out of them you need to know what you're doing where as any tw@t can drive a scooby resonably fast
