Hi folks. I am new to the scooby scene, but want to acquire what I consder to be one of the most amazing cars produced.
Problem is, so many around of different years with different specifications. So, should it be a Jap import or UK car? STd Turbo, WRX, WRX STi, Type RA, Catalunya, Mcrae? What year of production to aim for?
The funds available are an absolute maximum of £9K. For this I know I can only get a MK1, but I prefer the look of that anyway. So help me and point me in the direction of decent cars in my area. Thanks guys and girls.

Firstly welcome to Scoobynet - you're pretty local to me (Leominster) We all hang around the Hereford/Worcester lot
For 9K, you'll be looking at a good MY98 UK, or a slightly older STi....
Check out Here
Also for price guides, don't look at ScoobyNet. People on here want something for nothing (sorry guys, but it's true!).
A more realistic view is Autotrader or Top Marques.....
Besy of luck - if you want any more advice, email me (as in my profile!)

Thanks Dan, very much appreciated. There certainly are some rogues out there.
Does anybody recommend any traders worth dealing with on 2nd hand scoobies, classic shape models even Jap importers. In the mean time I will obviously consult Auto Trader and the likes.
As you can tell I am a novice, but what are the key things to consider when buying a 2nd hand scooby? What I mean is, as all cars do there must be obvious weak points on them to look for as well as the usual tyres, mot, exhaust, brakes, oil etc.
Thanks

hi m8 if you go for a 1998 model of any kind make sure it has done more than 40k miles or has had a new bottom end these scoobs of this age are renouned for piston problems (i know where for i speak)
look at s.i.d.c web site at poston slap section and do not egnore......
i have a import wrx sti type r and it cost more than £5k to get it back on the road.
don't want that to happen to any one else. don't let this put you off m8
