Not sure if this is right place to post this question but I'm thinking of doing a kit car next year (a 40th birthday present to myself) and wondered if anyone knows of a scooby-based kit car?

Seems like a perfect combination, 4 wheel drive, 200+bhp, lightweight kit car, should show the Caterham boys a thing or two.

Thanks mate. I remember reading about the Delfino in EVO some time back, but something about funding, finance, blah blah blah. £40K seems a bit steep though. Was thinking of spending £5k on a kit and £5k on a stolen/recovered/write-off to act as a donor.

 

I know of a guy that is trying to shoehorn the running gear of an Impreza into a Fisher Fury. Speak to Mark Fisher and see what he says - www.fishersportscars.co.uk
I am not sure if he's managed it - he has a dozen projects on the go at once I think.

I seem to remember the main problem is the width of the engine. Kits like caterhams/westfields are very small indeed compared to real fullsize cars and their engine bays quite narrow.
A friend of mine is re-building a cossie turbo westfield and the pipework and intercooler are major problems.

Might want to consider kits that use VW engines as donors? There used to be kits around that used Alfa power too, which presumably means boxers.

 

Think it was the Minari that used the Alfa Boxer engine.
