WRX 02 vs STI 02
#1
Hi !
I am planning to buy myself an impreza again(used to own a My00) and my option is to either go for a STI MY02 or to Mod a regular WRX MY02 with ECUTEK or maybe even an APS-kit.
Has anybody had any experience of driving both STI and a modded wrx?

I had a MY01 WRX and traded it for an 02 Sti. The WRX was a nice car, I didnt want a nice car, I wanted something that kicked me in the back when the turbo came in.
For higher miles the WRX is better, for thrills it's the STi.

Try both, it's the only way. I didn't like the suspension on the STI, but arguably it's better value for money...
- brakes are superb and will cost 1500 quid to get similar on WRX
- front suretrac lsd will rush you a grand for the WRX at least
- Gearbox 6 speed. Priceless
- seats and interior are alcantera
- tracker is 599 fitted, plus subscription (free on STI with a year's subscription)
- 265BHP PPP package for WRX is 1600 quid
VFM-wise, the STI is hard to beat. But do try before you buy, and try it on a motorway...

depends on you budget from the outset really, obviously we would all have an sti wouldnt we over a wrx let be honest, however a 01 bugeye can be had in standard trim for about 14k & the cheapsest you'll get your hands on an sti7 is what 19k, you can then go out & mod your wrx as you please in dribs & drabs, lets not forget that a decat wrx with eibachs is still an awesome piece of kit.... ahh **** it who am i kidding, sti everytime one day
