I did a Prodrive Live day today I must say really enjoyed it
Half the day was spent in a Land Rover going at 8 miles an hour around the Prodrive swamps I must say I did enjoy it quite relaxing fun.
Second half was spent in the Subaru enough said
Did see a face from trackday Rob mac
Had a great day brag mode off

Simb,
I believe the Cost is £300 but have seen it posted here a while ago £250. I purchasd mine secondhand as the owner had lost his licence
To make interesting they remove the perfectly good Brake Servo making the pedal on the Landrover feel a joy. This is done to stop peeps skidding off into the amrco barriers I would spend a few weeks in the gym to build up the right leg muscles I did find this very hard to get use to after my STi7's brakes.

Tony,
Saw your car parked up when I left after the morning session.
Despite buying the package for the Prodrive rally bit, I got more out of the 4x4 session in the end.
I found the rally bit just too quick with only about 10 minutes personal drive time (6 laps). Not enought time to undo my bad driving. Also found the course too frenetic (about 3/4 mile and 15 turns).
The cars were awesome - just one warning, make sure you are the front passenger when the instructors show you how do to it at the end!
One guy managed to chunder - luckily out of car.
It really is a "thrill" experience, not true education. It has certainly fired me to take further tuition to sort my bad habits out and see if I have the appitude for ARDS.
I have some videos of reverse flick then power slides and one car coughing rather unhealthily (low fuel?). Is there an easy way of posting these?

Davy,
No we didn't go on the high speed track just the Rally section,
Mad S,
The route around the Rally section about 1/2 mile (not very good judge on distance sorry) We did 4 laps as an intro, to get us used to circiut/Power/Brakes. Then 4 Laps as an assessment but as long as you drive safely and within your ability you can give it some from lap one.
The peeps there thought I would do well(as I own a STi7PPP) but it for me felt quite unsafe without servo'd brakes. Driving fast without the ease of stopping fast just couldn't get my head around I think peeps who had not used or no inckling of what good brakes are like did overcome it far better than I did.(Over the hill now) If I lost my servo on the way home I'd still park it up and walk.
Ps please don't be put off by the brake thing Only me out of the 20 peeps really struggled with it.

There is a special 'offer' in this week's (20 Mar'03) Autosport. Prodrivelive full day event for £285 (normally £465). It looks like you guys paid a lot less than that (less than 285 and a LOT less than 465). Are they selling a different type of event or just published a missleading advertising???
The day was described to me (by a lady at Prodrive booking line) as follows: (1) rally driving, (2) high speed driving, (3) skid pan, (4) off road. 20 minutes on each one.
What do you say?

I did Half day sessions which was 1)Rally section 2) 4x4 about 20-30 mins driving in groups of 3 people
I would say this is normally £299ish so your Full day sounds real good value for money. My order of prefernece would be as I have done the rally section three times now.
(1) skid pan (jags)
(2) high speed driving
(3) off road
(4) rally driving
Grins per buck is

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the info! I won't ask why you've put off-road ahead of rally driving
So the 299 is usually for 2 activities, not all 4? Can you 'pick & mix' different activities? Personally I am not too keen on off road. Can you use your own car there (e.g. skid pan)?
I couldn't find much info or prices on their web site. Hopefully they'll put more details in the post for me.

Yes the half day is 299 normally and only two activities. these are normally sold through 'Boots', 'Rally experience' and the like.
Prodrive live do a lot of Corperate days in which the Host could pick and mix or tailor made days, according to thier introductory Video. IIRC
I had done 10+ track days and been around the rally section 3 times and own a STi7 PPP I never driven 4x4 before so enjoyed the difference
I have used my car around the high speed section but not sure if you can during Prodrivelive days. I woud have been happier to use my own than theirs on the Rally section.IMHO
Tony
Just do it

Phil,
I went for the Saturday afternoon session 11:40am. This was the first time they'd done two sessions in a day so trying to get the timings right
We had some food (just before driving) and a briefing one half did the 4x4 the other did Rally section and split into groups of three.
I believe the day would have been better, driving wise,if the ground was wet but even on a Sunny day the wind was quite chilling there.
The Ticket from www.firstplace4.com said NO spectators, but the Prodrivelive boys said didn't mind some as long as children were 14+. there were 4 spectators who were treated to a Driven around the Rally section by an instructor but this may not of been available if time was short on the Morning session. IMHO
Tony
Try and get in session with Rob Mac.

Spoken with the guys there to get more details. Unfortunately they only use Imprezas on the rally stage For skid pan they use BMWs, and for the high speed circuit - Jaguars. Hmm... not sure if it's going to be as much fun as the Scoob?

I have driven Dealers Impreza's on the circuit so I wasn't so concerned about tyre wear
The only high speed corner that could have been a bit dodgy they put a bollard cicane to keep speeds down at that piont. There is enough variation of corners to test most skills and plenty of room on tarmac and grass to cover most errors IIRC
Tutition is very good IMHO and probabaly more relevent using your own car
