Question

My UK MY00 Turbo is just coming up for 3 years old.

The big question is .......

Should i take up IM's kind offer of extending the warranty (which would obviously mean servicing at Subaru main dealer) OR should i not bother with it and save myself "loadsamoney" by getting services done a local Subaru/Isuzu specialist (the 45k with cambelt and MOT is not far from £150 cheaper)

So come on lads (and lasses) WTF should I do ???

there seem to be lots of "nearly 3 year old" classics for sale at the moment, so dont bother selling it unless you want to give it away.

How much is the warranty extension? I'll be in this position in Oct 2004. Forewarned is forearmed I guess..

Thats not bad is it? £4 a week??

I suppose you have to take into account the mileage you are likley to do. We do approx 4500 a year in the Scoob, so in 18 months it will have less than 20k on the clock and be needing the cam belt service at 36 months

How much more expensive can the services be? Anyone actually KNOW? its only 3 more services in two years isnt it, and only one of those should be a major one, assuming youve had your inital one done under your original warranty.

Thats a point - service schedule for bug eyes - is it the same as the classic? ie 45k OR 36 months?

Bugeyes is I think every 10000 miles

I have been quoted for the 45k service :

Subaru dealer = £462.15 + mot at £39.25

Subaru/Isuzu specialist = £327 + mot at £35

10000 miles or 6 months?? 10000 miles would mean we had it done every 2 years

Hmm, I see about the servicing charges, but I still wonder if its worth the extra after reading these threads with blowing big ends, MAF sensors, knocking this, failing MOT's that....

Still I suppose you only hear of the bad ones, and there are 100 good ones for each one of those.

You any nearer a descision then?

You buy the extension, the car works perfectly. You don't buy it, and the car knows, and breaks with expensive results.
