Pulled by the police today
I had take a drive out today to pick up some new wheels for the car and needed to find a petrol station. The weather was great and the roads were clear of major traffic but whilst looking for a petrol station I came to a roundabout and took the car to 5,000 rpm in 2nd 3rd and 4th while over taking a car, the road was clear apart form the car I over took and a black Volvo which looked as though he was trying to keep up with me.
As I came to another roundabout I turned left and came into a 30 mph area where I slowed down to 30, I looked in my mirror and the black Volvo was behind me with two men in it wearing white shirts and back ties Yup the Police
They pulled me over and the first thing one of the Police officers said to me was "I guess that’s a gotya"(yup they really had )
He said they had clocked me at 86mph but I was still pulling away and guessed I hit high 90's, (5,000 in 4th is 100mph)
I said something like "you’re meant to have blue lights on top of that" with a smile ...he smiled back.
After looking over the car which they said was very nice and checking my details one of the police men opened the passenger door and told the misses that they had stopped me for speeding at 86mph and were giving me a verbal warning ....what???? They gave me a ticking off and let me go
A lucky day, the rest of the journey was a bit slower .
My expectations of the Police force has gone up 100% today, yes it was stupid of me to have reached those speeds and it felt even more stupid with a police car behind me
It really hits home how your actions can have serious consequences...I could have lost my license today and in 20 years of driving this is the first time ive been stopped for speeding.
Thank you to the two police officers concerned, ill think twice before hitting the loud peddle next time ...or is that think and look twice ???

One lucky
Andy

Lucky, having said that I reckon for everytime I have been stopped for speeding, every other time I've been let off with a warning, so next time you'll get a ticket

Keep checking the rear view mirror mate

Wink

Glad it worked out for you

I would imagine the respect of the 30mph did more in you favour than anything else.

Lucky, very lucky. As we all know, a lot of the results have to do with your attitude to the copper, you did well.

the Police have good days and bad days at work like anyone else- chances are if you aren't rude and drive safely they won't even bother to stop you. Like I said in another post I regularly overtake the police doing 80-5 ish (in appropriate conditions)and have never even been stopped.
I intend to keep doing this and when they stop me will be cheerful and polite whatever the outcome.

I was passed on ther motorway at the weekend by an HGV, I was doing around 70 with the wife and 2 young children in the back. That really angers me as it would take him a bit longer to stop than a car even if he was empty. Some people need 2 wise up on the roads.
