Hello

Ive had my RB5 for 3 weeks now, what a car!!!. I got pulled over by the met's this morning for erratic driving. I was just testing the power of it on the A40 but was maybe a bit too fast. Quick question to other Impreza Owners. Do you tend to get stopped a lot whilst driving your Scooby?? Any interesting experiences??

cheers

Had my import on the road for the past few months, and haven't been stopped.. However, had a few stares and watchful eye on my driving from the boys in blue... As long as I behave myself I should be okay...

Will have had my uk turbo nearly a year now and been pulled once. I was being rather stupid and i did deserve to be pulled. I learnt my lesson.

Had a cossie before and in 2 years of ownership was pulled 3 times. Just routine checks as it was late at night.

Sometimes i wish i did get pulled late at night just so they can check it is you driving it and not some scally whose just nicked it. If i remember rightly some lads in the S.Yorks RS owners club had stickers in there back windows what said something, if the police saw these they would pull them late at night and check.

Cool

Stopped once for an undersize front plate but didn't even get a "producer", they didn't even ask about the laser jammer mounted either side of the plate. Have been followed a few times while they check the details on the radio and had lots of fun driving round in circles till they get bored.

Had mine just over 2 years, and not been pulled once, when I had my M.G. Maestro I use to get pulled most mornings going to work mind you it was 4.30 a.m. But I don't use the Scoob for work, I'm still waiting to get pulled in my Nova.
Cheers

Question

In two years i've been followed 3 times but never stopped. Not sure if i'd mind the hassle if it meant i could have a tiny bit more faith that if mine got nicked there'd be a chance of them picking it up (hopefully before it got thrashed too much).

when I got my first Impreza nearly 4 years ago a police car followed me for about 3 miles and pulled up behind me when I got to the gym. A very polite officer then complimented me on my driving (as if I was going to drive like a lunatic with a fully stickered up jam sandwich behind me!) and said he just wanted to warn me that several Imprezas had recently been stolen in the local area. He had run a PNC check while following to make sure all was well.
Have never had any problems with the boys in blue.

The police take a lot of stick on here, mostly undeserved. No complaints from me whatsoever.

Had mine two yeas and been pulled twelve times!
1 - "Not seen the new shape" - Two motorbikes on the M1... nice escort to the next junction.
2 - "Sounding like I was breaking the speed limit" - 30mph in second gear, it might be funny a 20:00hrs but it does get an area car excited.
3 - Breath test - 01.01.2002 in Scotland, I showed green after not drinking the night before.
4 - Breath test - 01.01.2002 on the M6, strangely I showed green!
5 - Breath test - 01.01.2002 on the M1, amazingly I showed green the police officer was apologetic when I showed him the two tubes I already had. Not worried about getting tested for the third time in five hours...
6 - "Speeding" - 3 area cars, so when I pointed out their cars didn't have a calibrated speedo and I have one reading directly from the ECU they started getting upset. I suggested going to the station so we could talk about their driving: no signals, speeding and tail-gating!
7 to 12 - "Routine checks" carried out by the local area cars after incident 6. After a complaint it stopped!

The last police incident was on the M1 they stopped the traffic so they could clear up after an accident. I was the second car in the queue in the outside lane. The moved the first car from the outside lane to the middle lane the officer then said to me, "Right you have a clear road up until the next junction, when you pull away I want lots of noise and good take off." well it would have been rude not to!

No issues with traffic police, it is the darn area cars!

In 5 years of Scoobydom, only been stopped once in UK in RB5 due to the fact that "I was drawing attention to myself". Was an unmarked white Range Rover who drew a lot of attention to himself trying to catch me up through heavy traffic... I spotted the little blue lights embedded into the front grille and drove very carefully!

He pulled me about 2 miles later after I did a nice SAFE lane change at traffic lights to put 2 or 3 cars between us - I think he realised I'd sussed him! He just did an ID/owner check and a warning to be carefull and sent me on my way!

In some ways, I was quite happy he pulled me, at least I had some confidence if the car was nicked, they could randomly get pulled just 'cos there in a nickable car!

Other than that, only been stopped in scoob by police once in Austria and once in Switzerland, both times by indescriminate speed traps, so not scooby-owner related!

I'm getting pulled all the time in mine, mainly for checking who owns the car, once or twice for fog lights (it is foggy in herts sometimes and then I went into london and forgot they was on, sorry) and another few times by unmarked cars and got lecturered at, so i told them that since they were using a car which looked like one of thiers its unlikely to be calibrated!

Once i got pulled for driving sideways across 3 lanes whilst racing a new M3, the police car was waiting at the lights opposite and I slid past him tyres screeching smiling He came after both of us and gave us a telling off and quite rightly so! then let us go after advising me to go get some proper training!

Got pulled over by the 'Rozzers' recently because it "sounded like i accelarated too fast through the village!!!"

Quote the copper: "the boys will love this at the station, i've pulled over an Impreza Turbo".

They live very sheltered lives!

Got pulled once in my MY99 for speeding by an un-marked police bike (which I had just overtaken) - 3 points. Apart from that nothing...oh except when my missus was driving and got pulled over for putting her foot down in the Scoob on a slip road joining the motorway - he just warned her to take it easy!

Hello Johnny!
Welcome to Scoobynet!

I've also got a RB5, they are tops aren't they! I've not been pulled over since buying it in July. Even going past a copper at 80 in a 40 limit! Whoops! Hadn't realised!

I think that this may be a one off, don't let it put you off!

Anyway, check out the RB5 corner. Get yourself on the list of owners!

see you there!
