I can believe the fact that there are no discounts available, after all it's a new model and very few indemand new models have discounts on list price.

Best bet to get more value for your money is to go the European Import route. There are loads of great websites out there that delivery right to your door for thousands less than list. Identical cars and warranties for less money Although there is a waiting period, but you know what they say about good things and waiting.

My local dealer says waiting lists are growing at present. June/July delivery if you order now.

I got an 8% discount on overall price including accessories, but that was in Germany, so market forces are a little different!

I'm guessing you'll not get a discount on the price of the car, but he may be willing to do you a good deal on accessories and finance etc. particularly if you order with PPP!

Good luck!

I suspect that it's a little like the P1 was to start with, in that dealers could not be seen to be giving discounts, but could deal.

Having said that, there are limited supplies of the STi, and I suspect that IM will try to balance supplies to maintain demand and prices.

I paid full list for mine, but got a few bits and bobs chucked in, and got a good PX on the P1.

All in all, I was very happy with the deal I got.

My new STi8 gets delivered tomorrow - my 1st scooby. I got a quote from autobytel.co.uk (via evo website) for a 2.5% discount (listers in midlands). I mentioned that to my local dealer (welch cambridge) and got 1.8% (cash & bits). I went with them as they'd done the legwork on test drives and wanted to support the local dealer as they'd be servicing in future. As with all these things not sure if that's always available as they might have had targets/cancellations etc. but always worth phoning round and asking the questions.

Hi all, oredered my first sti8 2 weeks ago, picking her up end of march, could have had one quicker but going for black. So didn't come across shortage probs mentioned. Dealt with John @ crossways nr Warwick 01608 661544 top bloke who did me a much better deal than I could get from others I tried. Also they take the car to prodrive to get the naughty bits added which I thought is a nice touch. Can't wait!

Floyd, how will they stuff us? Increase our servicing costs?
I bought a new Mondeo once, first new car I'd ever got. Sold it back to the dealer 9 months later to help fund my first scooby (back in the days when scoobs traded over list secondhand *sigh*).
I lost 45% in less than a year. I won't be doing the same with the blobeye as I like the car...I didn't buy an STI7 because I never liked the way it looked or went(pre PPP)...but I did buy a bugeye WRX and in 5 months ( a year before the blobeye turned up) I sold it back to the dealer because I didnt like it...I lost 30% on that deal too.
If you swap in and out of cars quickly it costs alot of money.
Don't be so bitter.
Chuck (Technically paid list but also got an adequate P/X)

Part Chopped mine for Sti8, so based on list price, then haggeled with a few dealers to get the price to change price down as low as possible. Eventually settled with my nearest dealer and got a few extras, mats, tank of fuel etc.

Fairly Happy

Of course there are discounts, but it's all about the 'cost to change', rather than PX prices and discounts.

I paid list for my P1, but £2.5 k more for my '98 than I'd been offered anywhere else, a decent stereo, upgraded speakers, colour coded vents on the bumpe, clear indicators and side repeats etc etc.

Technically I suppose I didn't get a discount. On the other hand, you might argue that I got £3.5.

Should have charged you a premium the way I see it Josh, it's not as if having you as an owner/driver makes their job of trying to make the marque more glamorous any easier!
Chuck
(PS sorry to pick on you Josh, unfortunately Dave has been selfish in not changing ,and has left slim pickins in the blobby8 owners I know LOL)

Red face

I guess that if people can get a new STI at £23,500, then it kills the import market as they seem to be at £23,000 with Cat 1 alarm and trackstar ?

i looked at it this way:

my current my 97 PPP needs at time of delivery of sti8 (last week of march):

Service £3-400
Tax £180
Extended warranty renewed (only 7K miles left till 60,000) £348
Trolly Dent in Door repair £100
Dent in bonnet repair £100
a few funny noises from engine etc..

So £9K part ex + £430 for bits removed and Sold(intercoolers, dump valves etc) + Above costs = £10,500

STI 8 inc PPP + Mats = £26,895

so £16,395 to swap to Sti8 PPP from a six year old my97 PPP

Thought that was a good deal?

Josh, Chuckie, I was just reflecting on what I saw a few weeks/months back when many were chopping their 7's in for 8's. They had trouble getting sane px quotes against their new 8's and then they whined all day on SN about it Dar!

So, not aimed at you guys but the sad "I must have the latest car" fashion victims with more money than me Pity that I can't have a pop at Dave TS anymore either

F
PS When I say more moeny than me I really mean 'more debt' as they can't possibly have more money than me.

Hi people, I'm new to this site, as I've only just ordered my new STi. I got the standard STi (UK) car for £22635, which meant I could afford the PPP and P-FF7 wheel/tyre. OK, I had no Part Ex. Delivery in 3 weeks, can't wait. The quotes I got varied from £22,635 to UK list £24,995. Did the deal with a south east dealer... :-)

Interesting one this.

I contacted 4 different dealerships to see what deal I could get on an STi8 using my MY99 as p/x.

Incredibly there was £2,500 between the lowest & highest p/x offers.

I also asked about freebies (wanted fog lamps, carpet mats, pollen filter & side protector mouldings) and my local dealership just looked blank & said NO.

In the event I've ordered my car from FR Pulleyn in York (some sense here - my brother lives close to the dealership & will be fed up to see me arrive in a spanking new STi ) who were not only able to offer me the best p/x but also a selection of no cost extras!! Only drawback is that the car won't be here for 8 weeks

So it certainly pays to shop around, albeit that no one's offering massive discounts.

Gotta put in a quick word of thanks to Derek at Pulleyns - gave me a very reasonable deal over the phone and was courtesy personified throughout.

Hugh

Ok im going to name and shame my local dealers here.

first i went to town and county perth who offered me no discount on the car so i walked out the door.i bumped into the sales manager a week later in a restuarant and he then offered me £500 off. that got me thinking!!!!

Next phonecall was to Fiskens of forfar who in turn offered me £800 and if i could beat that to phone them back!!!!!!!! well this was looking good!!!

so i gave it a hour and phoned them back saying town and county offered me £1000 off. this wasnt the case but i thought id chance my ****.Fiskens in turn offered me £1218, but this was there final offer.

i phoned town and county back and they said £1500 final offer.

then just for the sake of it i tried Kenneth Melville errol who offered me £1525 and 12 mths tax!!!!!!

in the end i have bought one from town and county for £23495 with 12 mths tax and 5% apr and i am well please with that!!!

so the story is dont believe there stories that theres no discounts on offer and anyone disbelieving me is more than welcome to a copy of my sales invoice!!!!!

coinsidently this was for no trade in .my son went to buy one to and they were going to give him it at the same price but they offered him rock bottom on what is a minted my99.
