I have had a shock today when my dealer diagnosed the hesitation on my MY01 as a failed MAF. Then he proceeded to tell me it wasn't warrenteed. So I said I know IM wouldn't cover it but Subaru Belgium will... He said "we don't deal with them sir!"

Anyway the upturn of it is I need to get in touch with Belgium but I have no clue where to start... Please give me advice!!

HELP (I know I need a diet but 400 pounds lighter is rediculous!!!!)

Also a lot of the failures are just one little part of the MAF, so you don't have to replace the whole thing.

Mega-stream had the part no. IIRC and will give you more info.

Fizz

Got the book out, I don't think you're in luck. Not covered is 'manometres et compteurs' which I think may be the MAF.

Maybe we can get some help on this HELP STiFrenchie / Evil Bevel!

Contact details are as follows

Subaru Belgium
Mechelsesteenweg 588D
B-1800 Vivoorde

Why don't you get hold of the dealer who sold the car and see if they can help?

Wally, if your left braincell ever meets the right one, try to remember to respond to the topic at hand ... Until then, can't you just shut the **** up for once ?

As for the original question... try to get hold of Yvan Glorieux at Subaru Benelux. Not sure if he's still there, but he surely was a genuine guy trying to solve stuff/a real enthousiast.

HTH.

well answers to the questions posed to me -

The MAF is different on Bugeyes to previous models - no cartridge available (I tried some good people to ask)

I have the service book which is in French / German!

Thanks for the contacts - I will have to put pen to paper!

Nigel H - I have no numbers to hand.. (need a lot of hunting) for the dealer Subaru Vilvoorde as I got it through an agency (Exclusive Eurocar Imports)

Can I be of any help? I'm not technical (don't even know what MAF is!) but I can probably muddle my way through manuals.

Question

@Fizz: Have you owned the car from new?
Have you registered your warranty with Subaru UK?
Did MY01 have the 3 year warranty or was it just 1 year then? Got a feeling that the Euro wide 2 year warranty started at the end of 2001.
Have you had any previous warranty work carried out?
Has the MAF sensor been replaced before?

If warranty has been registered then dealer should contact Subaru Belgium to authorise the repair FOC. If you only have a 1 year warranty then what are you expecting?

Fizz

Read the warranty book that you got with the car and the details are in there. I don't have mine to hand 'cos I'm at work at the mo so can't help.

The other answer is to find a dealer who will help you. Some will, some won't

I'm not sure if this is covered on the 2nd and 3rd year warranties - it's a bit small.

Will check when I get home
