Popped out this morning to take the kid to school in my STi8, came home and parked in garage about 30 mins later.

Went out about an hour later and noticed oil dripping from the mudflaps (all four??). Seemed worse around the front near side but once I had jet washed car, it hasn't done it since?

Engine oil is full, there's no sign of oil leaking under the engine bay. Any ideas?

Yep, definately oil, thick and dark?
Brakes seem fine too.

Thought I might of gone through some oil on the road but then thought it's not possible.

Red face

"thick and dark"
I think you will find engine oil in Subaru's is like cooking oil in colour and quite thin. Suggest you may have driven through some oil on the road without realising it, this has happened to me.

Update - Had Subaru Assistance out today and they couldn't find a leak anywhere but strangely the Turbo now doesn't seem to kick in at 3500-4000 and the car has lost it's sense of urgency to get from A - B. I think I might just be going a tad mad??!!!*? ;-)
