I will apologise now to all those genuine 22b drivers but.........
I was in a petrol station on Holdeness Road in Hull having just driven from South Wales to see a friend. While I was filling my car up, a spanking 22b pulled up. Guy in a suit and tie gets out and buys some stuff in the shop. I wave as you do, and he comes over, me thinking like minded bod wants to talk Scoobies.
All he did was basically dis my car to the ground, STi 4, and tell me that his was far superior to mine, only one of 300 UK cars, like I didn't know, and how he'd had 170 mph out of it, and how has had Porsches and Jags blah blah blah.
What a sh*t* !!. Is there some sort of snobbery or pecking order I don't know about ?. Is it like being in the Masons ?. I have always found other Scooby drivers to be enthusiastic about there and other peoples Scoob's no matter what the spec. I hope the guy is a member, though I doubt it, and reads this.
There that's off my chest, he just really piddled me off. Has anyone else encountered snobbery based around what spec of Scooby you've got ?. He had a major rant about mine being an import as well.

By his posh "Yorkshire boy made good" accent nor did he. I wont tell my little friend in Hull you said that. She is a Customs Officer and she can punch like Mike Tyson.

He was probably coming back from his court appearance hence the suit, and the scoob was probably nicked, or a maxed sport :P
Subaru should have a vetting process to eliminate all the boy racer's and general idiot's who brag about destroying Ferrari Enzo's, Zonda's etc.
I hate to see the Impreza's good name tarnished by ignorant t*ssers. Get a life not a scooby

Racing is not my thing these days. To old, 40, and clean licence, so the insurance man loves me. But I wouldn't mind betting he had driving gloves in the car, you know the suede ones with the holes in them. He just really pee'd me off with his "my cats blacker than your black cat" attitude, thats the only reason he came and spoke to me.

Havent had this prob with Scooby owners as all seem to have owned regular Turbo's/WRX's before and are genuinely enthusiastic about the marque as a whole, irrespective of what model they drive.
Have experianced it with my 911, most owners of 911's old and new seem to be into Porsches as a whole, but lots of Boxter owners seem to buy there cars for a different reason.
Maybe he bought his Scooby for the wrong reason and needs constant adulation for owning it rather than just enjoying it.

Smack on, he gave the impression he was ticking off the list of cars to own before you die. As he said he'd owned a number of other performance cars. I got the idea he'd bought it to tell people he had one, not for the driving experince and sheer fun owning a Scooby.

Sounds like th guy knows **** about his car anyway:
Only 16 22B's were brought over to the UK and badged as the Type UK. Over 400 were made in total. He may have one of the Uk cars, but there wasn't 300 of them. Some scoobies have even lower production runs, the original STI had only 100 (I think), so his car is rather "common" That would have shut the monkey up. Anyway, 22b's are comming down in price, seen some for 25K...

He deffo bragged he had a UK car. That was his practically his openeing line !. I must admit I had heard the figure of 300 from other sources, but I stand corrected Dan, cheers. Pity about his attitude cos it was a stunning car, fair play he looked after it well.

I hope you got his Reg because you should get your little friend and her friends from the customs office to pay him a little visite just to scare the crap out of him.
should have just told him to F*ck Off, the beat him to death with a teddy bear.

lol! What a muppet never heard anything like that in my life...bizarre...even when I went to a Rolling Road day with everyone else being an Sti or WRX, no-one commented about my little MY98 UK - infact, everyone celebrated when I got 25bhp more than I thought I would! Met several 22b owners, none like this muppet though...

I know a 22B owner who is similar to guy you met, always going on about how superior his car is compared to my MY99 UK Turbo, which it is, but no need to go on about it, most scooby owners enjoy banter bout each other cars.
Probs has something to do with the fact the lad i know is only 20 and owns a 22B (exceedingly rich parents)!!

This guy was in his 30's I would have said. But the guy had money alright. Nice shoes, nice suit, nice shirt and tie, bol***ks attitude. I'm not knocking suits and ties as I wear them for work, but this guy was a " suit ". Like you I found all other Scooby bods to be friendly and enthusiastic and intrested no matter what the spec.

When I used to drive my Sport, when people didn't wave back I always wondered if it because it was only a Sport and not a Turbo!
Having said that, nobody waves now I drive the Tavia

SWRTWannabe, I had a 5-door sport as a courtesy car not so long ago and none of the Scoob drivers I saw returned my wave. I get waved to quite a lot when I'm in my RB5, so your theory about sports may have some truth to it. Of course, could be that a lot of Scoob drivers can't recognise another Scoob unless it has a scoop on the front...

He must have been the single ****** that makes up the far edge of the Guassian distribution of scooby owner personalities..
Every owner I've ever met has been a proper enthusiast!

I will wave at any Scoob driver inrespective of what they drive, even Sport Wagons !!. Or talk to anyone who is genuinly interested in the car, although you get a few of the what will it do then merchants bugging you. As my mother would have said its just plain bad manners and you put it down to bad a up brining. They were probably picked on at school or something.

This guy sounds like a complete pr@t
Don't loose any sleep over him.
Just to balance things up a little thou', this type of thing 'does' happen in reverse
One of the reasons I sold my 2.2B. I guess every now and then we all come across one unfortunately

Sounds like the guy who lives around the Hayes area, in Kent. Apparently, he has the same attitude, and would not stop as low as to waive at another Scooby.
He's got 22B in hus number plate for your info!
