Major moan time!!! SUK,took my £27.000 +£2000 for the PPP Then sell the STI8 PPP still £2000 but lo and behold you get a performance fuel pump!!! We all know about Fuel surge, and the rubbish impreza fuel pump,so i beg to ask why the 8 gets a new pump on the PPP and the 7 doesnt? dont know if there is some technical reason(sure they will find one if asked though!!)thought the engines were the same!,come on all us PPP7 owners surely we need to get together and sort this! otherwise there will be a few more STI7 engines going bang!!!!.Fed right up with SUK roll on the EVO8!!!

Maybe they are slightly more clever than you give them credit for and *are* doing something about it

He could simplify it, just tell us what he's heard 'rumours' about, then we could post a a topic asking about offering more taunting opportunities

Nellie,
A lot of winks in that thread reading between the lines std STi7 would need to be addressed by IM so don't hold your breath. Prodrive would want the reliable good named product, PPP, being spoilt by a STd OEM part IMHO

Matt

Have you ever known me wrong when i'm being serious

Tony
Standard Sti MY02 doesn't need a replacement pump - the OEM one is fine........

Nellie,
How do you know if your car had an uprated pump fitted or not?

Without wanting to put the cat among the pigeons, as they say, I have just had the PPP kit fitted to my STi7, last week, and it had a 'performance fuel pump' fitted as part of the kit.
Part Number 44S/T5/001 in 'performance by Prodrive' box.

I know exactly what is fitted to my car, no guesswork, no opinion, just FACT.

I have got my old pump in the new Prodrive box.

The high performance pump is encased in a black foam rubber sound insulating material. The std pump does not have the foam covering, so its easy to tell them apart.

Edited after reading Dave T-S;s comments on here
http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...=170888&Page=7, regrading ECUtek flash remaps and uprated pumps on later STi7 PPP kits, in lieu of piggyback boards on the ECU and std fuel pump.
Perhaps thats what's fitted on mine?

Cheers MTR

should have mentioned also, that the ECU has a warning label on it stating 'THIS ECU MUST ONLY BE USED WITH A HIGH PERFORMANCE FUEL PUMP'.
So whoever manufactures/reprogrammed my ECU is quite clear about what is needed for safe running.

So the cat is out of the bag on the fact that there is now a new pump in the MY02 STi PPP kit as well as the MY03

I know that Days of Chelmsford have already been supplying a new pump with their PPP kit for some while, and other dealers might have been doing the same too

Ok, I don't think it will hurt to post this now - and to head off any more potential moans - please note if you have a MY02 STi PPP without a new pump having been supplied with the kit, your dealer will be contacting you to tell you to come back and have a new pump fitted FOC

Don't be surprised if your dealer doesn't know about it yet, as the pumps are only just about now in stock at Subaru UK.

Note - please do not nag Prodrive about this as it will be carried out by the dealer that supplied your PPP.

We can then go out and drive the cars and enjoy them even more

Dave T-S

So,

Who has one then? Anyone know what the make/model of the pump is and can you buy one if you don't have a PPP?

Mutant Matt,
If you read my earlier post on this thread, I have the uprated pump.
I specified the make and part number on my earlier post.
I have also started another thread in drivetrain.

I saw that but I'm not sure it really answers the quesion. I doubt very much if Prodrive had the pump made themselves (spec'd by/for them perhaps) and the part number could well be a Prodrive or IM part number.

I'm trying to find out if it can be purchased seperately....

So - can we mere mortals order this part for our own cars?

Unhappy

Jza,

Apparently not. I checked with my local dealer and IM won't sell it to anyone who hasn't already bought the PPP....

Matt.
