STi 8 - Company/Lease How Much Do You Pay?
#1
Ok guys, I really want this car except via the company car lease people the STi 8 (PPP) is 554 Per month. Not only this but it gonna cost me nearly £400 per month in tax as I am in the 40% bracket.
So. How much do you pay?, do you lease yourself?, or get it via the company? What company do you use. ANY and ALL information will be appreciated.

My company gives me an allowance per year in which I can use to buy the car of my choice. I then use that amount to go towards the cost of the car.
In addition, if you do loads of buisness miles you can claim back the tax to the tune of 43p per mile for the first 4500(I think) and 23p per mile thereafter(Check on the inland revenue site for the exact figures and method).
You can then use this money to suplement the allowance, which in my case means I can have my car for only the cost of insurance, tyres and servicing.
Does your company offer a car allowance scheme.
Several places will do PCP, or personal leasing and it often pays to play one against the other..

What figures you needing.
The company car allowance I can spend via work is £420, this is around £360 if I take the money, but then you have to add in the tax you will pay if you get a company car, but then again weigh that against the insurance you will pay as a private owner.

How about HP with a balloon figure at the end? You need to stick a few grand in to start, but the final payment helps keep the monthly payments down. You know the car's going to be worth way more than the final payment when you sell it. Do it with a company other than Subaru Finance (poor deals), and you don't feel tied into them for the future. It's like a PCP but with more flexibility.
First National were doing great deals back in August.
Good luck!

How much of your own cash are you willing to use to 'top up' the allowance.?
There are some stunning finance deals around at the moment(shop and haggle hard) it also depends on how long you are prepared to keep the car(3 or 5 years). PCP's can work well, but to be honest you can be better off just going for a straight loan. I think there was about 10 quid difference per month between the two and I did'nt need to worry about milage and retained value.
Insurance will probably be another 80 quid a month on top. So reckon to put about 250 quid on top of the 320.
You can also try the import route, which will save you a few thousand, but may stop you getting the PPP. Then again there are other routes to get that elusive 300Bhp so that's not a show stopper either.

IM Finance is a front for Bank of Scotland, go direct you will get a better deal.
Also look at the RAC web site, also can be a good PCP deal.
Refuse to pay any of this admin/setup charge crap.

It's as I described earlier - HP, with a balloon and a bit of cash up front - about £2300 in this case. I've been doing it that way for years. Works well (for me anyway), and I don't have to ask permission to modify the car (some lease Cos don't like that).
I've looked at leasing a few times, but it never seems to work for me - high rates due to high miles (20+K pa), no flexibility and no tax advantages, despite having run a business for 20 years and being VAT registered.
Obviously, this method may not be right for everyone, but it does get payments down to a decent level, with few disadvantages I've found. If you want to know more, ring me if you've still got my number, or email me: toonman555@hotmail.com and I'll let you have it again. Or if you can wait, I'll talk more at the Meet on 02 March.
Cheers

Beat 'em down to £420 p/m over 3 years. Straight 4% flat rate.
It's on PCP, will have to find either 10k to buy outright or offset against new p/x.
I get 500 car allowance + expensed mileage. Just about covers the cost of loan.
Definately worth paying that extra to own the STi8

That's almost the same amount as my mortgage with the PPP added, then you've got running costs, insurance, fuel bill etc.
Your talking at least £600 per month to run a STi8.
It's not a cheap car to run is it?
