Hello love chimps

I am moving from the VW GTi (currently 2) to the impreza turbo. I am after a 98 - 00 hatchback model rather than the saloon. Is there anything I should be specifically looking out for apart from the obvious? i.e. worn turbo's, raced cars, knackered transmission? Also chipped motor's, does this cause excesive strain on the scooby???

I have around 10k to play with and am intending to buy private.

Any help would be most appreciated so I can avoid the common pit falls if any of this motor! I have still yet to drive one!!!!

If you go for the 98 keep your ears open for piston slap, as the 98 is known for it (my 98 5dr has it).

Thumbs up

If you can find a my98 with recent engine replacement('cos of piston slap) then you have got the best of both worlds,if you don't know scoobys buy standard if you can.The car is pretty tough but SOME chipped cars are a time bomb.It may be a little hard to select 1st gear if moving even slightly ,this is normal for some scoobys ,don't be seduced on your first drive ,if you're not happy walk away, other than that check the normal things, ....enjoy
