Simon,
Nice to see that Prodrive are coming on to answer some questions.
I was wondering if IM would be prepared to do the same. Unless this was moderated in some way it wouldn't work, 'cos we'd have the usual rants and raves. But there must be a way of filtering the questions so that they can provide us with some positive feedback.
BTW I don't necessarily see this as being an IM bashing session, there should be some positive things in it for them. For example they could err... well there must be something positive they'd want to tell their customer

Whether it's 50K or 100K, that's just a drop in the pond too Subaru.
Try spending several million and they may take some notice , but even Dave T-S ain't that wealthy

In any case, from various correspondence I have had with IM over the last 18 months or so I do not personally think they are in the slightest bit interested. They won't even associate themselves with the SIDC in any way.
IMHO, they won't be the importer for too much longer anyway

And here we have EXACTLY the reason why IM would be unlikely to want to come and talk to us.
And before anyone cleverly says "what they can't take the truth, or can't take criticism", there is constructive criticism and down right rudeness.
Display sensible and balanced views and you'll get heard a lot more, and will give us a far better chance of encouraging the likes of IM and prodrive to come and talk to us.

I would add I have a lot of time for Prodrive though, and people like Mike Wood and Simon Lines are extremely helpful within the constraints they have to work under

well made point dave - including the underlying point.
I had a nervous opinion of prodrive before I started to talk to them about being involved more with scoobynet. Since then I have found them to be highly professional, place high importance on the scoobynet community and their opinions / experiences, enthusiastic, etc.
They are trying their best to show us their support with the recent input from them, so let's not throw it back in their face.
All the best

If you are referring to me, you haven't seen the correspondence i've had with them, nor are likely to, so can hardly be in a position to make a judgement!

Simon,
Hence my moderated comment. If it's left open I can only see it ending up in abuse. But we could post all our questions and then they could be ahem, moderated.

And noted that my last post was cross posted before I saw the previous webmaster post.
I think i'll duck out of this one, having said more than enough. Prodrive get my vote though.

I don't understand why you lot are winging about IM! you should try owning a Subaru in Germany where Subaru GmbH is 50% owned by FHI and 50% owned by some Swiss bloke that has no interest in the cars, just with making money. We have 0 aftermarket parts here and even the ones available from the rest of the world are not allowed because they are not TÜV approved, even the Prodrive PPP is illegal here.
We have tryed talking to Subaru GmbH and with this Swiss guy and neither of them are interested in getting parts approved, half the dealers here do not even know you can get new wheels or spoilers.
Bilstein suspension is made in Germany but is not approved for use on the Impreza, how feckin stupid is that, you can't even buy it here as it is only made as an exportable part. Prodrive fit it and you can buy it in the UK.
OZ Racing have an office here but do not have a TÜV approved 17" wheel for the Impreza.

Personally I think it's great that Prodrive take such an active part on here. How many other car BBS's can say that they have representives from their marques motorsport partner and as well as their marques tuning partner. It's also great that these same people are enthusiasts just like us, and not 'suits'
It's like the BMW BBS, having the Williams F1 team contribute on a regular basis. Taking that as a perspective, think how that is.
I am sad that IM does'nt post on here, although there may well have been times when someone there was about to and thought 'why bother, they'll only slate me anyway' So, the nicer we are to IM, Prodrive and whoever the more likely they will stay and contribute. When we have issues, by all means moan and complain, but the more this is done in a constructive, polite and legal manner the better for all of us

I hope my (I thought) constructive comment about asking IM why they're not interested in importing the Sti wagon hasn't caused this thread to instantly degenerate into an IM-slagging...

No mungo, I don't think so. IM Baiting seems to be a popular sport sometimes . People have been asking for an STI wagon in the UK, ever since there was one.

To be honest it would take a IM guy with very big ***** to enter into an open debate here....They know there will be a lot of critism .... But if the questions could be controlled so that everyone benefits it would be great

That's exactly what I meant - moderate the questions.
The STi8 wagon is a good case of why IM could benefit. In return we get to have a moan or two, but in a constructive way.
The comments on IM as importer are interesting though

IM are delibrately ignoring pretty much their entire client base for aftermarket items and a good proportion of those who buy new cars by ignoring S/N. If they can't face comments from their customers then that's poor.
