Question

Hi,

I am looking at selling my S reg Sport and getting a new MY03 WRX and I have a couple of questions for you guys...

What can I expect to get for mine? I want to sell privately rather than go for part exchange. Its a Blue car, with Scoobysport exhaust, air filter, but other than than pretty much standard car. Its got 38,000 on the clock and has full Subaru service history. Its in excellent condition and drives very well.

Also, has anyone found any good deals on the MY03 WRX? I want to lease/finance the car and do not want an import. The best I have found so far is a PCP plan paying around £395 a month to include maintanence.

The dealer has quote a £1250 deposit with monthly payments of £375 but that doesnt include maintenance. Do you think I could get the dealer to inlcude metallic paint and a tracker for this price or are they not budging?

Any help would be appreciated.

They`ll budge I think my friend.

I`ve got a STI8 coming, for £1500 deposit, and £430+VAT a month inc. maintenance. The previous best prices I was getting was £478+VAT a month. Once I started pitching a few different suppliers together this is what I got it down too. These prices are based on Contract Hire through my business.

Hi,

Do you mind if I ask where that was from?

Also, we have our own business. Actually I am an employee but my girlfriend is the director. We are a limited company but have fairly low turnover and are not VAT registered.

I was considering going for a buisness lease or contract hire but then was told that due to the business' circumstances I would be better getting a Personal Contract Purchase plan. I am being told that I can then put the entire cost of the car (is. the monthly payment) through as an expense - does that sound right (in simplified terms)?

Also, I am off to Showells Subaru today - what do you think I should go for?

I really need to sell mine before any hard bargaining though

I`m from the midlands area. Sounds about right to me.

PCP and Contract Hire are basically the same. One for business, one for the private owner. PCP is normally about the same cost wise inc. the VAT. If your not VAT reg. go for the PCP and put expenses through your company, like you said.

What I`d suggest is try Subaru on PCP and then pick up a copy of Top Gear Mag and phone a few of the Contract Hire/PCP specialists in the back. 9/10 times brokers will beat dealers on price. My STI is the first car I`ve Contract Hired where a dealer has beat the brokers, this may be different though for the WRX.

Yep, we are just south of Birmingham.

I have got 30 quotes so far and they are all pretty much the same, except for one or two really stupid ones.

If they all work out to be the same I would prefer to go through Showells in Lye.

Any ideas how much I should get for my Sport?

Don`t know about your sport.

But, yeah I`d go with a scooby dealer over a broker. They`re a safe bet. Even if they`re a little more expensive.
