After 4 years of owning a 146 ti I have decided on the new shape WRX My03. As soon as finances permit, within 6 months, I plan to import. I'm looking for a hassle free deal and would like your best advice. Alfa has been great, contrary to widely held poor reliability reports. But, my god, the new shape MY03 does it for me and with also improved mpg figures, it's almost economical, (that's the sales pitch for my better half). Also, have any of the motoring press driven a WRX 03, as I would like some hard copy to impress the missus?

Your help is much appreciated

I think Alfa and Subaru are very similar in a lot of ways. I owned nothing but Alfas for 14 years. Both makes are quirky, not run of the mill car makers that appeal to quirky not run of the mill people. Both have a performance vibe and a performance history which shines out when you drive them. Alfa to my mind has gone a bit mainstream and dare I say it successful lately.
I always thought my Alfas were reliable but suspect that Subaru will be much more so.
Me I drive a Forester turbo which arguably is the quirkiest Subaru - not a car not a 4 x 4 not a - well you get it.
Sell her indoors on the safety - 4 wheel drive, airbags everywhere, top crash test results, and the high(er) resale value.

I'm doing the same. 156 to MY03. Had nothing but problems with the Alfa, so looking forward to it going!! Importing through Litchfield Cars. Give Iain a call. He'll be able to answer any questions you have.

Happy motoring.

Paul

man on the moon - Ian Litchfield is one of the most respected car importers on Scoobynet. You could do a lot worse than speak to him for an MY03. And he's dirt cheap to. Last I checked the MY03 was £16,385 OTR with Cat 1 alarm.

Simon.

Isn't it really difficult to insure imports and if you can isn't it more expensive.

Alfa and Subaru both have a performance history? What did Subaru have before the Impreza?

146Ti to Scooby as well - that was how I got here (MY00). The Alfa was a good car, I had a lot of fun and no problems with mine in 4 years of ownership, but the Scoob is on another level. I still smile every time I get in mine (even after 2 years). Enjoy the ride
