extended warranty - is it worth it ???
#1
have a ppp my00 which is 3yrs old next month and not sure if it's worth extending the warranty ? (would need the unlimited mileage one)
after the mot will probably be changing the downpipe, dump valve etc so presumably warranty will be worth jack anyway ?

Yes, but only for piece of mind or if something major goes a bit Pete Tong.
I wouldn't like to pay for a new engine or clutch/gearbox myself.
According to Subaru Warranty you need the car completely standard otherwise they won't touch it. Now that's just been said over the phone (their standard response). What you really need to check is if is actually in writing under the T&C of the warranty.
I have a 3rd-party warranty with Warranty Wise and it doesn't state anywhere in the contract that the car must remain standard i.e. if my downpipe develops a fault, there's nothing to say that I must fit an OEM part or that only OEM parts are actually covered.
It's all a very grey area. People will say that any warranty from Subary is void if you mod the car, but European law forbids this practice and it was never actually in the cars warranty booklet.
I think that's changed for the new cars.
So, it really depends if you want to run the risk or not.
My thinking is that if somethings going to gie through wear 'n tear, it's bound to be later in it's life.
