Angry

Just had me motor MOTd and it failed on my tinted indicators, side and rear, and number plates (Letters incorrectly spaced)

Quite chuffed there was nothing major wrong but think it is a bit perdantic (spelling) as the guy even suggested that i can easily swap my number plates back once it has passed!!

I thought that the front one's were the darkest but they actually passed

Surely you knew that the number plates were wrong so why not change them before the test?

I know here in NI we have to go to specific test centres rather than garages but the first thing they seem to look at are the plates and if they're wrong they'll not even let you into the building for an MOT test!

Question

You didn't really expect to pass with that plate did you? It's not just spaced wrong, it's too small! You do know you get quite a hefty fine for dodgy plates don't you?

Oh yeah, you'd prolly get a bigger fine for "passing" a car which had dodgy plates

Yeah i knew it would fail on the plates but i just thought that it is a bit off failing it on the indicators.. after all they do still flash orange

I know they are just following the rules and it's not really a dig at the garage, they seem to do a good job and are very friendly etc. it's more a bit of a winge at the fact that as soon as it has passed you can go and swap stuff back and no-one cares.... i guess the guys with straight through downpipes may feel the same now and again, but i suppose if you don't want the hassle at MOT time then you don't fit the stuff in the first place
