Whos going to change their Scoop STI 8
#1
Any prospective owners going to change their scoop ?
Anyone resarched it ?
Can you fit the Scoop from an STI 7
Yes I might be interested in an STI, but that Scoop is bigger than Jordans breasts

More to the point can fugly's get the micra driver, granny scaring, small bird eating , STI 8 bonnet scoop ??
I have the bigger STI scoop on my MY02 WRX (Ok it's a tarty thing) but would like the vacuum cleaner looking STI 8 if possible.
Trouser (or is it paulo) at TSL...are you listening ??

The rally car has the smaller WRX scoop fitted as if offers no benefit to the car (with it having a FMIC). This also applies to last years 02MY WRC car.
In addition to this, the co-driver has to be able to see where he is going in order to call the notes to the driver, which as he sits so low in the car is very difficult with the STI scoop.
Nick.

I heard that petter only being 5'9 couldnt see over the scoop bulge of the sti so they used the smaller one off the wrx ?. ;-).
I think this one of those styling cues that "could" grow on you as time goes by, in a years time we could all be wanting to fit bigger scoops to previous models.
Rememeber what they said about the ford focus when that was first launched ??. and look at it now even the yanks like it.
that of course didnt really happen to the bug eye (except a few people). but I like it with morretes (each to their own).

The bonet scoop may be OTT, but lets face it... bug eyes or bonet scoop - the scoop gets it every time!!!
I'll be leaving mine on

The design 'decision' was something to do with Sept 11. I read somewhere that the meeting about it co-incided with the terrorist attack and hence didn't get discussed much.
I'd personally get something smaller, as the stupid cat would end up sleeping in it.

Oh, and I'm jealous that loads of you guys seem to be able to afford an STI8. With lousy market conditions, there's no way I'd trade in a car that I own, for either large credit risk on a car that could get repo'd, or a huge amount of depreciation on a new car over the short term.

how could the design decision be affected by 9.11, do they think it will repel advancing aircraft or something !!!.
or where they to busy watching the news and had to make a rush decision at the end of the meeting.

Before anyone goes changing their scoop for something smaller I would say think why it was made bigger. I have already read posts on this BBS mentioning the STi7 might have problems with heat soak of the intercooler. Check out the STi7 blowing up thread. Perhaps Subaru have made a conscious design decision to make it bigger. Change the scoop size for something smaller and you could void the warranty of your engine.
