Question

Can anyone help....

I have a Euro import (BENELUX) 02 wrx, and I need to get the PPP fitted in the BENELUX region to keep my warrenty. Can anyone suggest a good (English Speaking) dealer within resonable driving distance of the Belgium Ports, Brugge I guess.......

Long shot I know.... but here's hoping

I think you are allowed to have this fitted in England now. If I am correct they changed their minds about having to have this fitted in Belgium late last year.

AFAIK you have to have it fitted at Prodrive in Banbury for the warranty to remain intact. I made some enquiries with Prodrive just before Christmas.

Cheers BL, I'll check up on getting it done here as it'll save a bit of hassle.

I've just spoken to Subaru UK, and Benelux, neither could confirm that you could now get this done in the UK. Benelux guy who spoke very good English, said that he wasn't sure that addign any PPP to a WRX would maintain the warrenty... no matter where it was done..... so he's gone away to find out the details, but I cannot find out until Friday..... worst case, surely I could get it done over there.. but he couldn't answer that.

DBT - PPP does not, I repeat, DOES NOT, effect the warrenty. It is a SUBARU APPROVED upgrade.

The only debate is whether is has to go to the country of import to maintain the warrenty or not.

Question

Cheers Mattel,

So the only question is can Prodrive do it ?

Does anyone have an email address for someoen at Prodrive Mike Wood, or Simon Lines perhaps?

Cheers

I spoke to Nick Wadeson at Prodrive about it. He is currently checking with Subaru Benelux that the warranty won't be affected if Prodrive fit the PPP. This was a while before Christmas though, so I'll mail him and gee him up (I'm not in a mad rush for PPP due to lack of funds ).
I also spoke to Garage Troch (where my MY02 was sourced) and they were pretty helpful offering to do it over there.
If I find anything out I'll post it. I know I'd prefer a day out in Banbury to trailing over to Belgium.

When I had PPP fitted to my Euro 01 it knackered the warranty as the pack is only covered for warranty issues by Subaru England.

Subaru Benelux don't as far as I know cover the PPP.

I was asking the Scooby dealers here in France if I could get the PPP fitted over here. I was told that they don't do it in France and if I was to take the car to the UK, it would screw the warranty

I'm watching this thread hoping something good is gonna come our euro way

On speaking to Hans @ Garage Troch PPP will be covered by Subaru BEnelux considering it is fitted in Belgium by an authorised dealer. The dealer will stamp our books apparently & confirm that we have PPP fitted to Subaru Belgium.

He also states that he can arrange a group buy if we get enough interests.

If I get no joy with getting it done in the UK I would definitely be interested in a group buy.
I'll keep badgering Prodrive, but they say that the decision must come from Subaru Benelux. This seems bizarre since it's all Prodrive kit that's used. Still, the red tape hacking continues ...

When I asked my Local UK dealer to fit PPP to my Belgy WRX they said "We are not allowed to order PPP unless the car has been registered with IM". I understand from previous posts that the registering process of imports with IM is a nightmare!

Surely if PPP invalidates your Belgium warranty anyway, their are better/cheaper solutions for more power.

Good Luck

BL - I'd love to take you up on the offer but the dosh doesn't stretch that far at the moment - how's things with yours? I'd be interested if you could let me know Hans' price eventually (just in case )

Robsta - registering with IM is a doddle - you need to send / fax them a covering letter saying you want to register your car with them to initiate the warranty and supply the following:
chassis no.
V5
dealer invoice (obscure price if you want or let them see how much you saved )
CoC

I got a letter back by return of post saying I was in / covered etc (but they stick their own conditions on but you can't win everything...)

In addition to Apple's post- you need to send a copy of the certificate of conformity.

BTW "Spend time with a colleague" -S------- ?

CoC = Certificate of Conformity

Didn't you activate your warranty when it arrived ?
If this is the only stipulation by UK dealers then surely loads of EU cars would be PPP'd !

Dear All

I have finally received a definitive answer from Subaru Benelux with regard to the fitting of PPP's. Please see below for details.

To maintain the full warranty of 3 years / 60'000 miles Subaru Benelux is offering, the Prodrive performance packs can only be installed by the Subaru importer - Subaru Benelux. ALL other modifications to the car, will automatically lead to the cancellation of the full warranty.

The following procedure for the modifcations has to be followed.

1. Dealer sends over an order form to the After-Sales Department of Subaru Benelux (the car must pass 1'000 miles).

2. Subaru Benelux contacts the dealer to make an appointment for installation.

3. The customers car is transported to the After-Sales Department of Subaru Benelux where the modification will be done. The transport of the car is completely on behalf of the dealer and or customer.

4. Subaru Benelux invoices the dealer, dealer invoices the customer.
If anyone has any questions, please post them here and I will do my best to answer them.

Thanks, Nick.

p.s. All those with EU imports now have a good reason for 'visiting' Amsterdam on their way to Brussels!

So Subaru Benelux think Prodrive aren't competent enough to fit their own Performance Package !! Charmin' !

If I go to Belgium via Amsterdam to get the job done it'll end up costing more than twice the amount of cash (and twice the amount of earache from 'er indoors)

So is anyone still interested in a group buy on a PPP at Garage Troch in Belgium ? The more people that's interested the more we can drive the price down, hopefully ...

So if I put a STi lip spoiler on my EU WRX III I'll invalidate my warranty! Makes you wonder whether the warranty's worth keeping by PPP!

I think you should take this in the context in which it was written. EU law basically states that the non-approved fitted part must relate to the part that failed. i.e. Fitting a spoiler will not invalidate your engine warranty, but may invalidate the corrosion warranty on the bootlid and surrounding area (due to water ingress into the boot and spare wheel area etc).

Thanks, Nick.

Not really the point but the morrette lights are now a subaru part so they won't invalidate your warrenty

But I do get what you mean

VAT= £341.69
TOTAL £2294.22
Think I'll give that a miss
