It is the same old story - Mark and I had the opportunity to play with an new Evo and new Scoob yesterday. On track it was quite clear that out of the box the Evo was considerably quicker. Acceleration was a shade less than the Scoob - but the Evo simply cornered so much better.

We spent considerable time modifying the Scoob to get to to corner well - although once done - it was easily as good as the Evo - with only simple mods.

I mean are Scalextric having a laugh selling a Rally Sport version - where the Evo is quicker than the Scoob - and it is not just coincidence - it was quicker than both of the Scoobs I have!!!!

I found exactly the same with mine and for a split second thought that by some miracle my missus could drive. Let her drive the (real) scoob and she is bloody frightening, expects it to pull like her deisel and wondes why she always seems to be speeding.

BTW, don't let women drive the evo, mine is now spoilerless.

Fulham,

I have two FUGLYS! The modded Scoob now has two magnets....interesting the Evo as two magnet slots - and the Scooby three - although both of them come with only one magnet installed.

Trout, sounds like you had a similar Christmas pressie to me then! I also got the crossover and jump - more potential damage and replacement cars required, although the Evo still has its spoiler!

Out of interest, which slot on the Scoob did you use for the extra magnet? I thought up front for more of a 4 wheel grip type thing but have yet to try taking things apart.

I can see this is going to become as expensive as the real car - will need another flat with more room for the track soon!!

Cheers,
Steve

T888 - yup, they should do since the old cars run on the new track. You can also get a short bit of converter track to join the old & new sorts of track together. Costs a couple of quid.

Trout - ta for the info. RMS sounds good - track design, virtual pit lane etc. Got your photo & stas up yet?

My dearly beloved wants to get me the Pacer system so I can race two cars at once, trouble is Hornby Hobbies can't say when it'll come into the country! Might have to get the one for the old track and cobble something together with converter track.

Cheers,
Steve

Spider,

what's the PACER system?

*Realises I am turning into a Scalextrix saddo!*

The RMS system fits to both new and old track - love the pitstop facility.

Had a bit of a problem running it on a Celeron PC - now running it on Pentium III.

Trout,

The Pacer system (£30) apparently lets you run a car round your track and record your fastest time. Somehow it then can run the car for you over and over again, mimicking your fastest time; accelerating, braking, and power-sliding when you did! You put another car in the next lane and try to beat the Pacer (i.e. yourself).

Great for when your other half has enough of playing 'toy cars' or all your mates are at work or out driving their real cars!

I know what you mean - I've only had the stuff for a short time and it's becoming addictive! Funny how all the supposedly grown men in our block of flats who pop in all go: "wow!, cool - let's have a go!"

The car collection's growing fast too!

Hmm - Scalextric forum? Good idea!

Cheers,
Steve
