It should be Mark, and as has been said many times in here, it's one of the few "extras" that retains a good part of its original cost come trade in time.
I was sceptical about the benefits and tried to find a PPPd car for a run out it. The dealer couldn't help and Mike Wood kindly tried to find one too. After talking to Mike on the phone however, I decided to go for it and have never regretted it once.
The power output is well above the 240/245bhp mentioned elsewhere. My lightly modded '98 had 245 and the new car feels way faster. My Wife noticed straight away, as did my 76 year old Mother! The car's so much nicer to drive too, and fuel consumption's decreased in day to day driving, due to the increase in torque and the ability to hold higher gears than before. It's about 5% better, although around 5% worse when hacking on!
Cheers

Mike, did you take it to Petch's to get done, if so what did they charge you?
I picked my new WRX a fortnight ago from them and although its only got 450 miles on I will be going for the PPP as soon as funds allow.

Hi Mal
Yep, car and PPP came from Petch. I paid £1600 fitted as that's what I was told the price was. I've used them since '94 and never had any probs. Good people to deal with.
You happy with your WRX?
Cheers

Guys, with you all the way on this. I'm on 1200 miles now you'll grin like mad after 1k service and you can free a few thousand more revs, but I hate to say I'm used to the power already and am hankering after PPP. To follow up some points made here, dealers will give 2nd hand PPP a £1k value on the car minimum, and yes it usually does kick out more than the quoted 245hp (I say usually, all cars are slightly different + bear in mind different states of running in...car gets looser as it gets older.) The dealer reckons theyve seen dyno's of over 270 but thats pushing it. Definitely keep a Sti7 in check tho due to 5 speed box.
I value my warranty too much to go aftermarket, so after PPP (early next year) + a year or so I reckon on an Sti8!

I have a MY01 with PPP fitted, along with Prodrive suspension and 18" OZ wheels. I would definitely recommend the PPP, it completely transforms the car - better bottom end pull - strong linear pull up to the red line - just leave it in 5th on a motorway and you can leave anything behind without bothering to change gear. Having tried the Sti7 without PPP, there is no contest - the only way you can keep it moving is by stiring the stick - no bottom end - edgy ride/handling etc etc.
Of course, you might like the idea of changing gear all the time, however, for me the great thing about the new age Scoob is it's ability to switch from a long distance effortless ground covering saloon, to a 'Scoob' !! - but then again, I am a bit of a wrinkly!!
I haven't yet tried the Sti7 with a PPP - that might be transformed in the same way as the standard WRX - but can't comment yet.

To my knowledge, 270-280 has only been achieved with a PPP if you change the downpipe and possibly up-pipe. However, with downpipe and uppipe fitted, you have spent more money and potentially invlaidated the warranty.
Look on the dynomite scoobies page, the MY01 with PPP (and 11,500 miles) gave out 251bhp and 235 lbft torque. Several old shape PPPs gave in the mid 240s. One bugeye with a PPP gave 271bhp, and that had a full scoobysport decat exhaust system. On the same rolling road, my warranty unfriendly mods (up-pipe, sports cat exhaust, ported headers, ecutek) gave 284bhp/272lbft and a much fatter torque curve.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying the PPP is bad; it is a big improvement on standard for not silly money and it's warranty friendly. However, it will (IMHO) be very noticeably slower than a non warranty friendly full exhaust, up-pipe and ecutek combination, which may cost very little more.

Buy it. The PPP transforms the WRX 01/02 into a serious performance car. 0-60 is 5.4 seconds and top wack 155mph. The biggest difference is the meaty feel to the car, much more torque, nice exhaust note without being too intrusive. Go for it!
