Exclamation

IM have always charged dealers £1000 surcharge for the ECU's. This includes the 01/02MY PPP. We get a nice little yellow label to attach to the ECU and send it back. If we don't send it back pronto we are £1000 worse off - I for one send them back next day

I had my local friendly Dealer's parts dept contact IM about availablity of the PPP, What was said is not repeatable, but IM are going nuts because the dealerships are not returning the ECUs.

It appears to be such a problem that IM are considering charging the dealers 1000 quid for each ECU.

I find this really confusing. What possible reason could the dealers have for not returning them? Surely it's just a matter of popping them in the post?

Conspiracy or incompetence?

Question

I'm a it confused here why would a dealer want an ECU that they get charged £1,000 for and limits the number of PPPs available?

Seems very odd.

Consider this (It's Thursday today)

My Dealer rang me Tuesday "Your PPP is here" - so the ECU presumably came off the modification line on Monday.

Me "OK then - Tomorrow?": Dealer "I'm a man short, have to be Thursday." Me - "OK Thursday it is"

Today: Fitted: Ready mid-afternoon, so my ECU goes off tomorrow, Friday.

Monday: first possible time for "my" (Ex) ECU to be modified. Quickest likely date at someone else's Dealer.... Wednesday next week. No-wonder it's slow..... and you can hardly criticise anyone in the above chain for dragging their feet. And by no means can everyone be as flexible about when their motor is available to the Dealer as I was. It may not, therefore, be entirely down to the Dealers IMHO....
