I thought the bit when he was in the interview and was trying to explain the mis-fire. "it was the water bottle cap had cracked and um, this is how it wasn't working and um well, you know how it is"

And the cruncher!!!!

THE TYRES HAD BEEN PRE-BAKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Like most other people, i would have sold members of my family for an oportunity like that, all that time and cash wasted on a complete fool! How he passed his racing test i dunno. I think Mr Channel 4 had a finger or two in that pie!

What an arrogant, self-centered sorry excuse for a human being!

I so hope he reads this board. If not the company he works for should be tracked down and much abuse sent.

Complete t1t.

D.

You know whats so annoying about that. I went for an audition for that. I work in games, we mainly do racing games. My art director came up to me and asked if I'd like to go for the part because channel four had rang us up and needed people to audition. Had a phone interview and was asked to go to London for an on camera audition. They rang up a few days later, apparently I got through to the last few but just missed out I would have loved to have done that what an absoulte arrogant pratt he was. So glad he didn't do it I think one of the reasons I didn't get the part was because I said I own a scooby.

Hmmmmmmmm....... there's a common poster on rec.games.roguelike.angband called 'Phil Deane' that has a (Queen tribute) web-site at www.miracleexpress.force9.co.uk

Perhaps someone would care to invite him here, if it is the same one (seems like an interesting Games developer link though), and tell us all about his experience!!!!!!

...oh, and it seems he works for Take 2 Games, in Windsor, Berks.

This made me laugh, its from the interview with one of the mentors:

Do you think you could learn to Fake It as a games tester?

I think I could. Absolutely. You have to have a winner's mentality and I think I have got that. It's got to be a piece of ****, just flicking a few fingers. Oh no ... I'm beginning to sound like Phil now.

The most frustrating hour of my life

Having dinner with DC, JH etc - I would have spent the night asking them about their careers, getting tips and advice, and generally having a laugh - instead he acts like a big ****.

Then that **** with the tennis player - made me feel bad being British

What a tool

As Phil B put it "Arrogant ****" just about sums it up.

(Is Phil B still about on SNet ? Would like to hear his unedited comments.)

If I had been trying to train this guy (not that I'm qualified) I would have smacked the guy in about the first ten seconds.

Total waste of a great oppotunity.

Can you imagine having almost of month of track time at Rockingham ?

Cheers

Ian

What a great piece of TV It must surely be a rare talent to make yourself look like a complete and utter fool on national television.

'I tested loads of computer driving games, so I know about circuit layout, breaking distances' what a prat

Phil B was the best, I think he saw straight through the guy in about 5 seconds flat. I reckon that the director of the race school at Rockingham was close to punching his lights out aswell.

His total over confidence was staggering. He still thought he knew more about motor racing than any of the guys trying to teach him - even at the end.

He probably sat and watched that programme tonight and still thought he did OK.

Best quote must be when he was trying to chat up some of the girls at Brands Hatch - 'the name's Phil Dean - remember that' - Christ, Sal and I fell off the sofa laughing. You could almost hear the girls saying to$$er as he stood there

Sheer class TV - it deserves an award

AAAaarrrgggghhh! Somebody kill this ****.

Sitting with Johnny Herbert at dinner in Monaco and saying with a straight face that Herbert is only human and so's he, so he can't see why he can't be every bit as good!!! FFS. Why didn't the tennis player muller him, I would have helped if I was the cameraman.

I would have cut off my right arm for such an opportunity ( after the test obviously )

I once had dinner a couple of years ago with one of the BAR F1 test drivers with a bunch of City suits, and they were all talking down to him as if he was someone with very little ability. When I asked the table if any of them truly considered themselves to be undoubtedly in the top 30 in their profession worldwide, as he was, there was a moment's silence before one of them said " I think I am actually..". He was sacked within a month for being crap I didn't know Phil Dean's dad worked in the City

What a kn0b.

People like him don't deserve another chance - they just need stringing up and having the **** kicked out of them.

Then again for good measure.

Absolute ****.

Plays computer games so he knows braking distances etc ROFLMFAO.

Hope he reads this.

If you do - you're a cvnt, a **** and a total ******* - now go play with your joypad.

We've had "The Office" and "Alan Partridge", and then along comes "The Racer", who proves that real life can be even more excruciating than any sitcom.

I hope the other 2 geeks in his office slaughter him (literally)when they see this.

I used to be a computer games tester and (as far as I know, I may be biased) I'm not a bighead like this guy is. I guess you get n00bs like this in every walk of life.

And anyone who reckons you can learn to race cars from video games deserves to be slapped silly!

I've heard on the grape vine where I work occasionally that a few of the moto gp riders use things like MOTO GP etc, on GP and games like to remind themselves of how circuits go when they first arrive there and keep their hand in over the winter, as some games are so realistic now it's better than a circuit diagram i spose.

But to say coz you set records on F1 2002 means you'll be a quick racer is bo!!ox, otherwise the F1 grids would be full of seven year olds and sposored by Haribo.

Be more intresting, probably less toys thrown out their prams aswell...

What a *** that guy was. A chance of a lifetime and he thinks he knows everything. Didn't take on board hardly if any of the advice from the mentors and he was just a plain sh*te driver! What a waste.
