Early 2 door impreza STI
#1
I was wondering how much would it be for me to import an early STI 2 door and what year do these run from?
Whats differnces between the 4 door STi's and 2 door as in performance, handling and toys?
I will do all the SVA work myself.
Regards
Scott

Earliest model was the Sti Version 3, i.e. MY97, available from 96 P reg I think.
Diff to regular Sti aside from the body, is a close ratio Group N gearbox, adjustable centre differential and intercooler waterspray. They also have two pot rear brakes. Performance wise, they feel a surprising amount quicker to drive than the regular model, but are compromised on the motorways as 5th gear is quite low. Worthwhile sacrifice in my opinion.

fifth gear maxed out at 152mph, so not too much of a problem.
problems for sourcing bearings, gearboxes etc and esp rear discs as these are much larger than normal stis!
otherwise, a very quick car off the line. good for traffic light grand prix.
no abs though but very good acceleration, wudn't part mine for any other sti's. 97/98 v4 sti type R
hope this helps

I may do the odd drive abroad.
This will include high motorway speeds.
Is this the car for me??
Does anyone know if there is any websites advertising these cars pre SVA'ed (just imported)
