ok - i hear alot of you saying that you rev your scoob to well over 6k.

i have found in my standard wrx 93 that the optimum change up is about 5 - 5 and a half thousand, as the power seems to drop about there.

in other words this feels about the peak torque.

i guess tuned ones respond differently?

just feels like a waste of time, fuel and engine wear to redline the poor beast.

whats the view on here?

I agree. Rolling road shows mine to be 6250 rpm. Basically revving after that so its time to change up at 6000!!

Mines is a little strange actually and I must admit it would be interesting to get a rr print out to confirm what I feel. Basically you get some pull at 2k rpm and good boost and pull by about 3k rpm. At somewhere about 5k rpm the boost drops off and the acceleration fades slightly - you'd be tempted to change here but a split second later the car head butts the horizon again as the TEK 3 does its magic (despite the continued drop in boost) It'll then pull hard till the red line This is particularly noticeable when the cars just got up to temp and in cold conditions.

Peak power is at approx 6500rpm on the P1. That still leaves 1700rpm to play with! Worth keeping the boot in just for the noise though!!

Thumbs up

Decat and induction kit and mine pulls almost all the way to the redline now

Before that I used to change gear at about 5.5k, when making steady progress

I have RB5 WR version (so basically MY99 with PPP). lots of torque from 3k upwards but runs out of puff at about 6k so no point redlining it.

interesting - so it seems that only tuned scoobs utilise the top end of the revs - or would any standard scoob driver contest this?

I also have a MY93 WRX import (standard) and find that pushing it past 5.5K doesn't really offer me any more performance , again I do it just because I like the sound from the engine !!

heat shileds - tiresome things, mine has started to rattle at below idle (as you pull away) total **** to fix it seems, save from welding the damn thing up!

you guys are vicious - redlining for the noise- tut tut!

general concensus seem to agree with me,5.5k is the way! which i find pleasing...
