I would have been tempted at £26k, when my current MY99 comes up for replacement next July. £23.5k sounds eminently sensible for a UK car. Hmmmmmm..... Depreciation can't be so bad either, I'd have thought.

Hi Adam

my car is due for replacement next year and at 23.5k i will be sorely tempted but only if i don't have to spend any extra money to make it go properly

Otherwise I will look round for a P1 there seem to be some still unregistered and some good second hand ones going around.

my uk car has probably cost a that + a large bit in mods etc.

Do you know when they are due here?

Just got off phone from Iain litchfield and am shocked at the price of the new car.

It is starting to look attractive, (the car and the price )

£23,500 for the UK car and orders being taken now.
Can't understand why its cheaper than the uk 300 for the real uk car that isnt even a euro import.

A tiny part of me is actually tempted.

hhmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I'm starting to consider it quite seriously.

Probably a better idea than modding my UK car.

I had a WRX on a test drive and was relatively impressed with it's refinement and other improvements over the old shape. Surely a better base for further modifications than an older UK car.

Cool

That's brilliant. 23,500 is very cheap for the UK. No one will buy WRXs any more. For an extra 2k you can buy an STI. The grey importers are going to have a hard time beating that price. They should be around the 19-20k mark in Holland or Belgium I'd say. I'd buy one at that price. I have to see what they are going to be worth here in Greece.

Cheers,

Wrexy

On top of the std UK STI the Prodrive version has:

Dark Blue coloured Dials
New Front Grill
New Front bumper
New Side Sill spoilers
New Rear Spoiler (high)

It will only be available in Premium Silver, WR Blue Mica and Blue Black Mica.

Hope this helps

£23500 is for Uk spec imports as Ian said earlier. I expect with IM mark up the UK main dealer supplied price will be 30k ish?

My first MY97 Scoob was UK main dealer sourced, my MY00 was imported via Holland at nearly a £6k saving. I'm definitely going the import route next time. At the end of the day the cars are built on the same production line - its just the boat drops 'em off in a different place.

Cheers,

Ian.

so those few little cosmetic extras !! are gonna set you back 2.5k ?

cant see thats v good value for money ?

still interested to see UK official price after my dealers comments.

imports have gotta be hurting them recently so this is subarus chance to play it straight and tempt customers to buy official cars at a reasonable price.

Iain,

Apologies for ignorance but where would your car stand with
UK dealers?Would they service or supply parts of the same?

Would the car have a manufacturers warranty?

Thumbs up

But it it's a Euro import to UK spec then the UK dealers will have to service and fix 'em. Right?

By law they have to. But no part-ex, no goodwill fixes, nothing beyond what the law requires of them.

At last manufacturers/importers are waking up to sensible pricing - although fears of a recession and a downturn in the purchasing of performance cars have probably twisted their arms.

These prices will surely hurt the used valuse of all current and older models. P1's amd UK300's now seem vastly overpriced.

Well if it were me, I'd go for the regular, rather than Prodrive version, and spend the 2.5k with a certain Mr Croney......... Imagine Pete's car with the Sti as a starting point. TASTY! Buggger gonna have to find a job that pays me better!

P1s and UK 300 NOW seem vastly overpriced?

I thought they have been a joke since day one.

When you say euro imports will not be accepted in part ex, what exactly do you mean?

if they would accept your car in part ex if it was a uk, and they wont purely becaus eit is an import then you can take them to court for discriminating against a product on the basis of it not being official uk.

I get the feeling they arent making it so black and white and will fob you off with a "we arent accepting any part exs at the mo".

If that is the case then all you need is a friend with an impreza to set them up, documented evidence of the accepted part ex, and the rejected part ex, and then you can do them big stylee.

As an owner of an imported MY00 Impreza, I've had no trouble with the dealer, including several goodwill fixes etc. They appear to have treated me exactly the same as anyone else. I'd definately go down the import route again (given the same 6K saving!).

Although our cars are UK spec I don't think that Official dealers will honour any warranty issues Still we sell them with a Warranty anyway Some dealers will service imports but I think I would rather go to real enthusiasts like Powerstation, ScoobySport etc

It will be very interesting to see what Subaru do finally sell the UK car for, I would be very surprised if it is £30K.
