Help from USA... Please
#1
Hi Everyone... I was recommended that I talk to all of you to see if you knew anything about this. I live here in the United States and belong to the i-club (NWIC Moderator, aka: Berns). I was hoping that some of you can help me out.
I recently purchased Rally-xs Magazine and I found a couple of scratch-it lotery tickets inside. I scratched all three tickets and two of them I won. I read the back and they seem real. Here's my delema... it says that I have to be a UK resident to claim my prize. However, I have a phone number of the claim line. The funny part is that they say that you have to call from your home number. That seems strange to me. So has anyone heard about these tickets? So far it looks like I could have won 500 to 50,000 UK Pounds. The other ticket says that I won 1,000 UK Pounds to a new BMW Z3 or a Toyota MR2.
Anyone know what's going on? Are these real?
Thanks for all of your help!

Hi Bernie,
Can't comment specifically on the Rally-xs "lottery" tickets, but it won't be genuine. The so-called "claim" 'phone number will probably be of the form 09XXX XXXXXX (premium rate). These are charged at up to £1.50 (~$2.25) per min. You won't be able to dial it from the U.S. though. Alternatively, it may be hidden as an international number, ultimately terminating in a premium rate number. Many African and Carribean countries allow incoming international calls to terminate on premium rate numbers. The scammers make their money from the premium rate number payments.

Thanks for the help guys! I'll see what I can do to scan them and send them to you, johnfelstead (and "yes" I remember you!). It is a 09XX... number though Thanks Suba for the link... that's exactly what it sounds like too. Oh well, it felt good to be a winner for a while.
