Just read an article in Autocar about Howfast.com . It seems Stef has set the fastest time for an Impreza around the BEdford GT circuit, beating an old and highly rated rival of Ayrton Senna no less

Jeez guys, gimme a break.

Quoted from Autocar.

"Talking of Subaru's, I recognise the driver of a white WRX. His name is Dave Coyne, considered by Ayrton Senna to be one of the most talented drivers he ever raced against in single seaters. Coyne would be better known if the Jordan he was down to drive in the 1991 Belgium GP hadn't gone to a bloke called Schumacher"

Quote
"So, how did Dave Coyne do? Well his time of 2:56.55 wasn't fast enough to beat Stef Reader's time of 2:53.00"

BTW Stef came 15, 1.6 secs slower than a certain Jonathan Palmer driving an Exige.

aahh! So all you Scoobites outhere will no doubt be subscribing to Autocar magazine for he foreseeable now that they have publshd something positive about Scoobs
Not bad though, just over a second behind Pamer, although what they forgot to mention was that Palmer was actually towing Sef at the time
If I were Stef I'd buy myself a shorter tow rope to cut down me lap times

This has got to be a joke right.
I`ve read some bo11ox in my time.
Was it all done in the same car???
I suppose not.
I know a lot of you would love to emulate Stef`s wild driving antics but a propper driver would run rings round him.
Trying hard not to diss ya Stef
But failing miserably. I actually rate Autocar a bit.
You lot love it when a Scoob gets a good report and say its 5hite when they slate one.
Me they said that the P1 was exactly as it is.
Thing is I should have listened.

W9GTR/Aaron,

no need to worry a Skyline was faster, even tho' it was driven by Darren Soothill

Of more concern was a MkI Golf being second fastest.

Also Stef was 20s behind Sutcliffe in a R500, but still a very good drive - 15th fastest of 100 cars on the day - with some serious drivers and some serious metal in contention.

Sorry to hi-jack

Arron
IMHO
Why do you still subscribe to Scoobynet?
You do not appear to like or rate Scoobs
You do not have a good word in general for the community

Arron
NEWS FLASH - Most of the people on Scoobynet are slightly biased towards Scoobs - There is a clue in the title - SCOOBYNET

Now then, i am not elitist - i am a Petrolhead (for want of a better expression)
I do like to read about Scoobs - and other cars - yes, you are entitled to your own opinion as i am.

I think what i am trying to say is that you never miss an opportunity for a dig or jibe at Scoobs and/or its people.

I think that's a shame - if you do not like the cars or the community then **** off and find one that you do like.

Perhaps you should get out more!

Paul

While Arron's approach may appear a little abrasive, that doesn't necessarily mean that he's wrong.

Scoobynet while derived from the love of the Impreza has become more of a generic petrolhead site (Of the 10 threads running in General, only 2 bear a passing reference to the Impreza)

Sure, Arron is critical of the Impreza, but are we all a bunch of sycophants here ? Because he has a negative opinion is he forbidden for speaking his mind ?

This would be a VERY dull place if we all agreed.

David
I am not saying that i/we have to agree with everything good and that any negative comments are cr@p or wrong and that Scoobs are the best cars ever 'cause i got one.

Agreed - it would be a very dull place if we all agreed (did i just agree?), that is not what i am getting at. I am just a little tired of Arrons sniping, It is just my own opinion.

Red face

I love all cars - I love driving - I long desperately to own a Porsche 911 or a Skyline R35.

Does that make me love my Scoob less - no.

Does it make me post consistent snipes and attacks on the Scooby, Scooby community and Scooby individuals - no.

Do I worship Stef - no (although I do see some signs of hero worship here ).

Do I particularly know Stef - no.

Do I agree with Paul - absolutely!

Do I enjoy winding people up - sometimes - but it ain't personal.

It is one thing to constructively criticise, it is another to keep on having a go.

Historically there are only two people I have seen post here that are even fuller of braggadacio about their driving skills (Stef has calmed down a hell of a lot this past year ), one of those is now a professional Touring Car driver and the other is.....

I most certainly don't worship Stef, in fact I hate him for introducing me to the joys (and costs ) of Trackday day events

Simply noticed Stef name in Autocar (sorry, I missed Darren's name) and thought others might be interested. I personally still think he's done well to be up amongst the 'big boys'

I agree with absolutely nothing said on this thread.

even by me.

just for diversity.

Arron does like to have a jibe. and it is feckin irritating, but without people like him creating contraversial posts, the general forum would be sooooo boring.

On another note, why is stef worshipped? he might be a better driver than me, but he isn't a hero.

And phil bennet was still a *** regardless of the fact that he can drive. (friend of yours arron? ?

edited due to crip spoling.

All i can say is nose dive on his car. I was there that day, and is it normal for scooby front ends to nearly hit the floor under braking???

I tried talkng to this stef bloke (green one yeah) about his front cover (stone protector), and if its the same person i thought from a few words that he was very arrogent. I might not have a fast car, but when people ask, im happy to talk about it.

As for his timing, still plenty of smaller cars that went round quicker.

Darren was a scoobysport croney (like the pun?)

he was one of the first people I met after buying my first impreza some time back.

I heard he was giving up on scoobs, who can blame him

Oh, Bedfords a lovley Circuit though. Only thing i didn't like was that sh1tty bump at the end of the main straight b4 the S bend. Right pain in the ****.

Good circuit to go round, expensive for the amount of track time u get though. Trax is still the best. Can watch another one of them scoobys play rolly polly.
