Yup, agree - drawing on my own personal, bitter, experience, I sense that something's definately going to happen on your way to work in the morning.

I would of though that by removing the spare would only add weight
- MASSIVE ice install with all that extra space

20kg spare wheel? You got lead boots?
No legal obligation to carry one but work out what you will do when Murphy's Law strikes.

Isn't it illegal not to carry a spare

It's like the spare has to be road legal to pass the MOT (i.e. at least 1.6mm tread) but if it's not in the car, it doesn't come into play.

If it was illegal not to carry a spare, the Lotus Elise would be in trouble!!

Avoid the green style foam, I have been told it makes a mess inside. There is a puncture repair kit that I carry in my westy, it has a skew that you push into the tyre and pull out a plug to seal it. Later a perm repair can be made by a garage. Cost around 15-20 quid, comes with co2 to refill the tyre.

Got mine form demon tweaks, but actually cheaper from a BMW garage ive been told

Happened to me a few months ago - car started to oversteer on a dual carriage way in the dry . Left rear was quickly deflating.

I was very late to work...

Just checked my steel space saver run at 60 psi job. 135/70x16.
11.9kg or 26lbs.
Over a period of about a year, as well as engine and other mods I have reduced the tare weight of my STi ver 6 Wagon from 1365kg to 1260kg without altering appearance.
Out of interest 215x45x17" WRX alloys M/Y 02 with Potenza REO11's weigh 18 kg each.
Look here Owners cars.
