alright im new 2 this site, ive just sold my old 220bhp s2 rs turbo, looking 2 buy an impreza now. can any 1 tell me what espicially 2 look out 4 when buying 1 of these cars. cheers Russ

Don't worry, most are mechanically sound. Just watch out for heavily modified Scoobs (i.e. thrashed). You shouldn't have any problems - I certainly haven't in my two years of ownership.

thanx for the information, il check those sites in a mo. im after a standard or slightly modded l reg uk 2000 turbo. i looked at 1 the other day but it had a whining noise in reverse. i thought it was a bit lould, should i worry bout this?

Mine has a whining sound in 1st to 5th gears.
Thats only when the wife is in the car though

im sure u could get a gag in one of those £1 shops which would sort that out

The whining sound can easily be stopped. Just tell the mother-in law to get out the back seat, and catch the bus instead.

Just had me new Hi-Fi fitted with a very large Sub.That dulls the whining out,but it results with a pain in the arm when going into boost.
And a faint scream of slow down you F'#@in arseole.

Maybe its interference from the new install
