MY00. Centre bit of dash with headunit and heater controls and that uselss bright switch has always squeaked over bumps. Tried taking out the section and padding the mount points with padding/blu tak everything - nothing helps. Any ideas or do I just live with it?

Took most of the center console apart and while reassembling out very little between most surfaces. Did the plasic round the steering column as well. It took a very long time but worth it

Agree - sqeak is very annoying.
I've only had my car a few weeks so it currently has a piece of card wedged into the trim. It seems to have done the trick, at least until I have more time to try a permanent solution!

I removed the gear lever surround panel and stuck a strip of dense black sealing strip (meant for sealing body panels or something like that)along the front of it. It presses against the squeaky bit and is out of sight. Job took 10 minutes and it works

Raymond.

I too have a squeak in the cabin but its coming from the headlining and not the centre console, does anyone know how to fix this one? Could it be done on warrenty?

Thumbs up

John

The thick black sticky sheets of sound deadening material work fine. Just stick a piece to the back of the trim that is squeaking, buzzing or rattling. It's out of sight and cures the problem permanently.
